Ryan Hollweg suspended two games and another three games

Ridiculous... -
I don't really understand why Kopecky has earned an automatic spot on the roster...must be his epic toughness and huge 12 points in 77 games last season.
-
When did McCarty get injured, sometime during all that nothing he was doing in the preseason? I love the guy as much as anyone, but this seems like odd timing for his sudden IR "still in detroit" status while Downey is sent down.
-
I suspect this is probably accurate, although the forums are going to be raging after the first game we get beat up in and Downey is chillin down in GR.
-
Whoa whoa whoa, what's this...Lilja and McCarty both fighting in a preseason game?
-
Samuelsson reads the forums, helm isn't getting his roster spot
-
Agree with the OP...it's really hard to justify not giving Helm a roster spot, and from what I've seen of Leino he's deserving as well.
-
"Pavel Datsyuk (out right now with an undisclosed injury)" Did I miss a thread about this somewhere? What's up with dats?
-
If it was a serious injury, I would be justifiably livid just like anyone else on this site. My point is simply that this isn't representative of Downey's play style or his attitude, and it was obviously an accident. The team is past it, time to let this thread die.
-
Hahahahah....hold on, let me catch my breath....hahahahha. Are you actually implying that Mr. "I wait until the ref separates the group and the whistle blows, then I start running my mouth" Samuelsson fights his own battles? COME ON. This guy is a complete joke when it comes to "sticking up" for himself. Even Mickey has commented on it during the games last season. Whistle blows...Samuelsson starts running his mouth. I realize the hip thing on the forums these days is to defend him, but come on, at least call it like it is. His shot is ridiculously inconsistent, he does put up points, he's not a bad player for the price...but that's as far as I'll go. He's still the most frustrating player on the team to watch.
-
Clever. Doesn't change the fact that this thread is full of freaks who act like Downey broke Zetterberg's back intentionally and than circled the ice celebrating about it. You'd think Filppula was captain of the team and Downey was a hired gun from Nashville the way people blew this thread out of proportion.
-
Did you read the entire thread? there's a clear implication from several posters that Downey should not be on the team, not specifically because of this incident, but citing this as an example of his play (which is clearly off base if the posters in question had watched any of the games last season or paid attention to Downey's attitude, the rest of the team's attitude towards him, and his general conduct on and off the ice).
-
Wow, instant hate because Downey jammed Filppula's thumb by accident during preseason practice? people need to relax around here, some of these comments are absolutely ridiculous. OH NOES MVP OF THE TEAM FILPPULA HAS A JAMMED FINGAR! NOOOOOO BOOT DOWNEY OFF THE TEAM AND TRIPLE SAMUELSSON'S MINUTES!.
-
I don't think Quincey or Ericsson are going anywhere...I could definitely see Lebda being history though, and I'm not holding my breathe on Filppula either if he's expecting more than $2 million or so...
-
There's definitely some selective memory involved around here, people love the big hits and the fights when they happen, but quickly forget the value when all is said and done. Personally I feel a lot more comfortable having Downey and Mac around keeping an eye on things...especially in the upcoming season...Avery to Dallas, Tucker to Colorado, Torres to Columbus...we'll be seeing a lot of these scumbags.
-
Trust me, fans that are paying attention understand the importance of Downey and McCarty to this team. I think they'll both be back one way or another, probably splitting time throughout the season.

Any thoughts on who will be the next assistant coach?
Mors replied to Majsheppard's topic in General
They should just make Chelios a player-coach -
Figures my cable box is dead the one night the game is JIP...Comcast fails. All the streams that work here (http://www3.myp2p.eu/broadcast.php?matchid=10328∂=sports) are joined in progress... Guess I'm screwed until this ends. If that link is against the rules just delete my post please, not trying to cause issues.

20 minutes to game time, and the Rangers game isn't even in the 3rd period yet. F!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!CK.
-
So what we really need is to frankenstein them together into some kind of mutant Lilda that is big and blocks shots, but actually has legs that can move...
-
I'm not sure this is a positive change...I was in favor of Lilja over Lebda from the beginning. Guess we'll find out tonight.
-
I watched almost every game this season, but there is some level of fail with Center Ice when the games are blacked out so they can show them on the NHL network. It took me like a month of complaining to Comcast to get hooked up.
-
That is a good point, all of the games on Versus so far in the series haven't started until around 15 minutes after the projected start time.
-
To be honest you're right, he hasn't done anything very serious on the physical front in this series. I just don't like him and never will regardless of how he decides to play I guess.
-
It lets me know when he's on the ice so I can watch for him trying to run somebody from behind or hit them in the back of the head...the usual honorable stuff you can expect from such a fine caliber of player, ya know, 'cause now that he's scored 2 goals he's not a grimy little scumbag anymore according to some people around here. /sarcasm
