Mayers is the ideal type of player the Wings need to be trading for today...we can only hope.

I didn't see anything about it on hockeyfights, but there's a photo of Calder fighting against Avery floating around his bio pages here
-
I never have to suffer through another terrible Williams-on-the-point shift again!
-
Yea, you guys are right, he does seem to enjoy his fights, I guess his level of caution just stands out to me
-
I actually feel like Kronwall's play is on the decline, whether it's due to his mask or not recently, the past 2 months or so he has been a liability with the constant passes directly in the front of the net in our zone. EDIT: Also, I'm strongly against trading Schneider as well, we need him badly, for the PP if nothing else...anything to keep Williams off the point.

What's the deal with this guy Downey? there's a bunch of his fights on youtube and it seems like every time he just squares-off for as long as possible until the other guy moves first...search for his fight against Brashear, Brashear actually shrugs like wtf? after Downey circles around non-stop. Maybe he shouldn't fight if he's that worried about it.

If you have season tickets, they put the money towards paying for your season tickets next season. Prices are pretty ridiculous though, for my seats it's like $4100 total if the Wings' make it all the way to the finals...and they want payment for the first 2 rounds by March 1st.

Basically the same thing I said in the other thread regarding this: We need Schneider to keep Williams off the point during the PP.
-
Our second best defenseman is a liability? trade him??
-
As long as it keeps Williams off the point, Schneider can do whatever he wants...

I guess this whole "we have no grit" thing has come to a sad conclusion...losing 5-1 to the f*ckin flyers. I'm expecting a lot from Holland in the next 2 weeks, that's all I can say.
-
I don't think Kronwall is bad overall, it's just that in the past few weeks he's been standing out for mistakes, particularly cross-ice passes directly in front of Hasek while the zone isn't clear.

I thought Macdonald played extremely well last night. Certain members of the defense (ahem..KRONWALL) on the other hand looked awful. Macdonald's 0-5 record really doesn't reflect his performance in the games he's been in this season.

I think we're on the same page now

I understand your point, and I'm not in favor of us signing Bertuzzi so he can go out and cripple people on the ice. However, my point being that a) I'm not going to hold Bertuzzi's past actions against him b) "Our powerplay is our enforcer" is an epic fail in terms of realism, I'd much rather have a couple guys who stick up for our players and fight back when needed, then to watch our mostly uneffective powerplay try to make up for the fact that players like Datsyuk have to constantly watch their backs because no one on the ice will stand up for them if someone does take a run ...
-
Sure, if it means not watching our players get run by him in the playoffs by other less moral/ethically inclined teams/fans. I didn't realize that the reason the Wings have absolutely no toughness anymore was because we're opposed to the possibility of violence by members of our squad, my mistake.
-
Agree, doesn't matter to me at all what he's done in the past, my only concern is that he'll be too timid to play like the beast he was...which is what we need most.
-
Since when do "Clean & Classy" teams win the Stanley Cup? I don't think Calgary knocked us out of the playoffs because of their clean skill game. The Wings' need an animal player, and if it has to be Bertuzzi then so be it.

The moves are cool, but at the same time we've all seen the video of Williams pulling that behind the back trick during Wings' practice, obviously it doesn't equate to instant goals in the NHL.
