Unless your talking about the all star game or the olympics, Wellwood is among the most talented players every time he steps on the ice, hands down. His natural ability is so far ahead of alot of guys. it sucks to see him get released. Everything was pointing towards a solid NHL career, he made junior hockey look easy. Has an OHL scoring title, was one of the best Canadian world Juniors, Scored 5 goals in an AHL game..etc etc.. Hopefully he can get his career back on track... its just hard to see any team giving him a chance though, one of the problems is that he seems to HATE working out.

well, it felt good to type www.LGW tonight. I took most of the playoffs off from this site, and I can't believe I am logging in after watching this team win a stanley cup!!! What an exciting night. I love this hockey team. I love this organization!!! I hope that someone posts some or all of CBC's coverage tonight. PROUD TO BE A DETROIT RED WINGS FAN!!!

if that kid keeps doing that in a few years he is going to be treated with a lot of wedgies... his dad has to be a pretty huge nerd to customize road hockey equipment to look like kiprusoff's vaughns. oh, and apply his kids makeup.

nice rant, ill give you that. but BITCHING ABOUT PIERRE MCGUIRE IS OLD AND TIRED!!! we know. you dont like him, and you are not the only one. Alot of people don't like Pierre. If you search Pierre McGuire on Facebook, you will get about 5-6 PAGES of groups started about him, and 90% of them are hate groups. The fact is, that most broadcasters suck, theres nothing we can do about it. Go ask baseball fans how they feel about Joe Buck, Tim McCarver or Joe Morgan. name a broadcaster that doesnt suck these days...its a hard thing to do.

hahahah this is too funny. "what happens on the road, stays on the road". I learned that at a young age. Me and a few guys were talking about a similar topic last night, b/c we saw that clip of OV kissing his girl at the Wizards game. We established (using our classic stereotypes of star players) that Crosby probably just sits in his room on road trips, while OV probably goes out to the bar in the big cities. We also used comparisons of the players we have seen come through London, and established that a player like "little sammy gagner" will probably chill in his room, but you can find Robbie Schremp at the bar almost every off night (we saw schrempy in London on new years AND the night after...talk about a "barstar") I love the behind the scenes stuff in all sports, its so interesting. Things like Mic'd up are among my favourite things to watch on TV. Do your thing Sean Avery...

Just saw the highlights...Roy's son went nuts and pumped the other tender, who wasnt very interested in fighting. Looked like he gave the crowd the finger as he was skating off, he also threw a shot at another player. Rumour is St.Patrick told him to start some s***, and Sr. might face some disciplinary action. great player...hate that he plays for the ducks and has a cup im from London, I watched this kid play alot at the junior level, and he was the same type of player, if not worse. I would hate to be in the other dressing room knowing I had to go deal with Corey Perry all night. He plays a chippy style, he wines ALL THE TIME, and at the end of the game, your usually looking at a loss with him having a few points on the board. He was a part of arguably one of the best teams in junior hockey history, and played on the first line. (Though the Knights were WAY better, he won the battle between him and Crosby at the Memorial Cup) Me and my buddies laugh at the fact that he is this huge untouchable figure in London, as all the little kids LOVE Corey Perry, but anyone around his age knows hes a total ******. He gets chirped all the time at London bars...its kinda funny. He's become a great, effective player at the NHL level, and I can't stand it. p.s. I love Kirk Maltby, but its easy to see that we would HATE him if he played for Colorado all these years.

you have to be a huge homer to think those comments are completely false. i think they have alot of truth to them. in the end, i dont like pierre mcguire. but everyone seems to ignore the facts because of his stupid delivery of his comments. pierre mcguire is a smart hockey mind, and usually has good things to say. p.s. comments like "DOUBLE DION" made it hard for me to say that

and to some of the other posts Modano : yes. definately. same reason Joe Sakic will be Captain of team Canada as a UM fan and London resident, i would love to see both TJ Hensick and Robbie Schremp in that lineup, but i dont see it happening.

when i think team USA, its hard to think they would have a solid roster. But when I see that list, its easy to see that is a team that can do some damage. now on the other hand, the Canadians can field 2 teams that would easily compete. Damn i would love to see another Canada / USA final.

been a goalie my whole life...and it hurts that i have to agree with the equipment getting smaller. its now up to the equipment companies to step up and protect these guys while reducing size. it will be hard to get the gloves to be any smaller. ive tried on these new "pro spec" gloves, and they are tiny as hell. 11inch pads will probably be the limit for a while as well, as these pads are really skinny. maybe trim a half inch thats about it. what can be reduced on the pads is the thigh rise, which is where the pad extends above the knee, making them so tall. the major issue is the pants, and the chest protectors (C/A). The NHL is going to have to approach the major companies to see if they can get some better ways of protecting these guys without "balooning" them up. heres a recent pic of drew macintyre...notice how small his blocker is in comparison to his forearm/elbow area. also the line on the pads is where the top of his knee is probably sitting, maybe its a little higher because im pretty sure is taller than 6ft. the thigh rise on the pads has gotten out of control. other good examples are Legace and Lundqvist they CAN make these guys smaller, they just need to go ahead and get the proper equipment made.
