Kids got some hands!

I didn't make my point well, Crosby's role isn't to fight anyone. Period. How F*&^%$# would they be if he was in the same position as Lillia? Bettman sure doesn't want his role model chasing people down for paybacks.
-
Crosby's role as Captain or the embassador for the NHL isn't to go after guys for payback of any kind. I admire the heart but not the brain. I'm not trying to single out Crosby, but every player now that gets hit and gets pissed off about it. Last I knew the NHL was a checking league. As for the hit; the best evaulation is at ice level. The players and officials obviously have this view. The posted picture is taken from a biased elevated view. It is pretty difficult to skate backward with your body at 19 inches above the ice surface (knee level). The physics of it would have caused Ballard to fall forward on his face. There was no intent to hit his knees. Hip to hip. Malkin's jump makes it worse. He would have just been rubbed out of the play had he not tried to jump out of the way.
-
I see Ballard has the hip check perfected. Konstantinov and Stevens were the Kings here, but his was clean. Too bad Ballard doesn't have the uppercut perfected. Sticking up for your teammates is onething when they need it, but a clean hit is a clean hit. Should Crosby or anyone else for that matter, go after an opposing teams defence if they shot the puck and it ricocheted off their arm injuring them while they were around the crease? Getting hit with pucks and checks is a part of the game.

Ya know, the Thrashers might just be on to something

It's not a matter of bad teams, Dallas has been doing this with the ice girls for years. Every expansion team needs gimmicks. -
Hagman's goal IMO looked the best, but I voted for Franzen. Blues fans are tearing up the votes! Didn't Zetterberg have that incredible backhander this year? That was a great goal.

Well apart from the impossibles your predictions were pretty damn good tonight. I read this earlier and once Hossa got 40 I thought of this post. HA!!!! To bad Ozzy didn't get the SO, but you had the Sabers score predicted as well.

Wow! So happy to see Tootoo get his ass handed too him. Man is Staubitz an animal. I haven't seen fisticufs like that since Probert's days!

Love the sarcasm boys! Bottom line Dats vs AO Defence >>>>> Offense < Physical game draw Price Best overall player goes to Datsyuk I would love to see AO in the winged wheel, but alas.........
-
Didn't see it, but I think that his dealings with the Lightning soothed his wounds with the WIngs. I don't think we will see the terrible biased antagonism that we've seen in the past. Now if the Lightning ever get it together..........
-
This is the exact reason why I dispise Crosby and Love AO!! Both are great players but who do you want in wearing the winged wheel? It's obvious to me.
-
what ever way we look at it this is a great problem to have. I was really happy to see these guys get put into the lineup and I'm happier that they are staying!
-
Yah I was thinking the same thing. I would put Hudler on the 2nd line and drop Filppula down to third or fourth line.

Everytime the pressed Conks came up huge. Besides the mistake at the side of the net, he played a perfect game. I'd have no problem riding him into the playoffs.
-
Conks in net! Full confidence that Wings win!!!
-
I think this is more than getting him on track for the playoffs. IMO, Conklin is a great choice that I have a ton of confidence in and I feel we can win going into the playoffs. The weak goals that Osgood has given up is a huge deflator for the team that distracts them away from the little things that are needed to win. I think this is the last chance. Maybe he's shipped out at the trade deadline?

It would be great if the NHL had a players swap for a day program so we could have Peckham suite up for the 25th!
-
Actually, it is more than just about one game. This is a reoccuring problem. You can't continue to win games with a save percentage of a 1980's goaltender. If we didn't have the power house of awesomeness we would be struggling to make the playoffs. Come on Dead last on the PK s*** at 4/4 At this point in the season, Ozzy makes some pretty good spectacular saves but the routine stuff makes him look like swiss cheeze. Face it, this season he is better at charting face offs than sitting in goal. The only reason why he has his record this year is that Hossa, Dats, Zets, Huds, Homer, Franzen, Cleary and Lids have bailed him out. We will not go far with Ozzy playing like he is, he looks like Tim Chevedale.

Thats the problem with all of these over inflated saleries that occur with mismanagment, it drives up a relative value and ultimately the cap follows. If a 2nd/3rd line guy makes 6-8 mil a year why wouldn't a upper ellite player want to make 12 or what ever he could get? The cap should included a maximum percentage salery increase from year to year, so If the cap grows by 5% no players salery should be able to increase by 10% unless they are transitioning from their restricted status.

Everyone needs to understand that their target audience isn't the US and certainly isn't western canada. Take that into consideration and you can understand why they broadcast the way they do.
-
You should work for Bryan Burke. I look at Hudler alot like I viewed Kozlov, but Hudler is less streaky and much better in the opponents zone and unlike Kozlov he actually shoots the puck.
-
Abdelkader needs to stay in the minors where he belongs (for now). Drapper is WAY to important in the face off circle, while I'd love to see Helm take Malby's job. As for Downey, I doubt that having him on the bench and on the ice for a whole 5 minutes would have been the difference in last nights game. I can't remember Shelley being on the ice once. He may have shifted but he wasn't the one throwing big checks nor did he try to muck it up after the whistle. The rest of his team did that fine without him.

Great post! Tonight does demonstrate the absolute necessity for the Wings to win the division and get home ice. IMO the winner of that decides the Cup.

I judge a game by what happens from the 20 min mark of the 1st period and until the final horn blows, not necessarily by the score, although my mood is also dictated by the sucess and failure of our beloved Red Wings. This was an incredible game! To me if the Wings had 50 SOG and they had 12 while we won 11-2 thats a boring game.
