Top Swiss-leaguer Brunner to sign with Wings, Babcock has big plans
Vladiator replied to evilzyme's topic in General
I agree. It seems that all of these "All Stars" coming across the pond are not up on par to the NHL level and need at the least, a year down in the AHL. It's probably more of a "diamond in the ruff" mentality. Looking forward to how he does in camp if he signs though.- 139 replies

Thanks for that. Those tickets for Yzerman's were almost impossible to get. I'm hoping that I won't miss out on Lids banner presentation at the Joe.

I agree. I really don't see Lids coming back if Homer isn't a part of that signing. If you watched the NHL 36 show you would understand that Homer is a part of Lids routine. And yeah Keeting should have never asked Homer if he was coming back after a 1st round loss. Classless to say the least.

Well I guess that I'm pulling for the Blues now. I'm interested in how far the Preds go though. Just hoping the Flyers finish of the Pens next game. My hatred for the Pens will never go away.

#8 Los Angeles Kings vs. #1 Vancouver Canucks

Man was that a hit. You could actually hear the thump when Brown hit him. -
Shea Weber fined for Zetterberg "headslam"

Stayed up just to hear what they would say about it. They said it should have been a major. I'll be happy with a one gamer. -
Shea Weber fined for Zetterberg "headslam"

Wrong. There have been several incidents this season in which no penalty was called and a player ended up getting Shanabanned. I'm not quite sure how anyone could argue that what Weber did wasn't an intent to injure. Seriously? Weber first punches Z in the back of the head and then grabs the back of his head and slams it into the glass. I’d have to say that I’d be very disappointed if Weber doesn’t get at the least a game, but with the way the game was called, and with Bettman in attendance; I wouldn’t be surprised. -
Smith was sent down to GR so that he could keep playing, and at the same time, allowing Kindl and Ericsson the ice time that they need to get their legs and timing back before the playoffs. Sending Smith down was nothing more than a move to make sure that all of the D are ready to go when the playoffs start. Smith will be back for the playoffs; it's just a matter of whom Smith replaces between E and Kindl IMHO.

Hoping Quincey and Lids get back for the next game. Huds on the point is just a nightmare as we found out tonight.

Can't blame Nash for wanting out of Columbus. I guess you can only stand losing consistently for so long, especially with his talent. I’m wondering if any of the GMs who were having discussions on acquiring Nash will ever reveal what Columbus was asking.

I would agree that would be considered an overpayment. Thinking that would be kind of the core of a deal with the Kings with prospects/picks coming the Wings way as well. Probably never going to happen, but if the Wings know that that Stuart isn't going to resign, then they should get something out of that since the Wings are relatively deep in D even with Big E being out for the next month.
-
I'm hoping that Stuart has come clean about his intentions with signing with the Wings by now. If he intends to sign with a west coast team, then a package of Stuart and Huds would not be an unrealistic offer for Brown.

Finding it kind of funny that we all thought the Wings were doomed and would have to spend a bit to bring in a #2. Joey has solidified the backup role. Jimmy needs to get in to shake off the rust Good for Joey ... he just won't give up The Wings need to find a good right shot D though. The #2 PP will just be a waist of time on the PP without one.

Haven't the Wings worn their road jerseys for the last couple of games at home now?

Anyone else thinking that Conks has played his last game for the Wings? To be fair, Mac has been playing more, even so in the AHL, and looked a lot fresher in net, but???

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=386262 I think that the Hawks got the best of this trade. Looks like the Hawks or loading up for a run into the playoffs. Thoughts?

Yep, my bad...I was thinking the same thing

If the stars could have aligned .... Jimmy VS Roy would have been a treat.

Highly doubt that. There were probably a majority of Wings fans there than Yotes fans. You could clearly here the LGRW chant in the 3rd.

Shouldn't this be the Z goal now? I've only seen Forsberg do that once. Z has done that twice now?

I was hoping in the beginning that the Wings would just be moved over to the East; but saw the proposed realignment as equitable as far as travel was concerned as well as the bonus for all fans to get to see every team during the season. I’m seriously pissed off right now. The NHLPA can state that there was unfairness in how the realignment was communicated to the NHLPA; but it is more than obvious that the East pushed the vote on this. Personally, I will not attend another NHL game until there is a fair alignment. f*** the NHLPA and the Eastern Conference. The fans are the lifeblood, so let’s suck it out.

And sadly enough a preseason NBA game relegates a big division game to the rabbit ear TV broadcast for me. Thanks FSD+ and Buckeye Cable. Go Wings!

That was a fun and intense game to watch. Connor continues to impress me. He has great speed, and battles well on the boards; and did anyone else notice how well he backchecks? Pending injuries, there are going to be some interesting decisions to be made when Mursak is ready to go.

Anyone up for going on a road trip to Winnipeg next season in February? I remember watching that last game the Wings played the Jets during the playoffs in 96'. Nice to see them back in the league again and back at the Joe.

Thinking reseeding after the second round based on points makes the most sense. The Western teams got kind of the shaft on this plan since all of those teams will be playing in two time zones instead of one in their respective division/conferences, while all of the Eastern teams stay in the same time zone (you have to consider that to be part of geographical logistics though). It's only fair that the Eastern teams could potentially face an Eastern/Western time zone 3rd round series. For those of you that thought the Wings were just going to get shifted into East in the two conference format, based on Bettman's promise, that just wasn't going to happen based on how the vote would have come out on that (the stars just couldn't align on that due to the movement of teams since that promise). Too many teams in the Western rely on the extra revenue when the Wings come into town and I'm sure the Eastern team owners were salivating about the potential of having the Wings in their building at least once a season. For the Wings, this realignment is the lesser of two evils that would have happened regarding how the Board of Governors would have voted. I like the home and home against every other team. My hopes of being in the same division as the Leafs and Pens have been scratched for now, but with the future Florida, Phoenix and Columbus in question, that could change.
