Someone said earlier trading Fabbri and promoting Berggren, either at the deadline or in the off season. I think this is optimal and saves some cash. Ideally this let's you keep Sprong and Kane. In the off season we also have to look at moving Veleno (easy) and/or Copp (costly, difficult) to make room for some ELCs. On the back end... we need an upgrade and to make room for and ELC or two.

Is this to say "we like our team", that Patrick Kane returning from injury is "our deadline acquisition"... so no need to "kick tires" especially when "our power play is our enforcer"? -
It was signing Holl this summer for 3 years that made no sense... nothing against him or his play, it made a crowded blueline more crowded.

Ideally, Hanafin with an extension. I don't want to give Ottawa assets and I don't think Chychrun is worth the assets, he's hurt a lot and is not as much of an upgrade. Can we offer this on Stevies behalf?

Unless we can add and extend someone like Hanafin I really don't see use adding at the deadline. We have an NHL ready F and D in the AHL, we have an excess of the middling depth defenseman teams usually acquire and 3 goalies. If anything we may trim the heard for assets Reimer for a 6th/7th, Ghost for a 2nd, maybe a late 1st with retention. Losing those guys isn't going to hurt since we already have adequate replacements on hand. The last thing we need is to spend assests to add UFAs that will play at most 2 playoff rounds; or possibly 1 or 0 playoff rounds. -
I think to land Hanafin you trade: Berggren, Matta, 2nd, and one middling D prospect Bium, MacIsaac, etc Maybe the pick is a 1st with a 3rd coming back from Calgary.

Is unvaxed hair worth as much as unvaxed sperm? -
Lyon doesn't have the track record but he is playing notably better and if that dries up he's still making backup money for 1 more season... Gibson is washed and has 3 more seasons at 6.4 million. Again NO THANKS!
-
Lyon > Gibson. Gibson is dining on past glory. Circa 2018 and before.
-
Downgrading the goalie, and who comes out for the 2 expiring contracts. It's a deal that would look bad when done, and age horrifically.
-
We're not a cup contender and would be a worse team after that trade... try harder.
-
Trading futures for expiring contracts and a goalie with a huge contract who's best days are behind him (Definitely a downgrade)... no thanks. I'd be interested in Lybushkin in the off-season as a shutdown guy on the right side.
-
That trade is a HARD no.
-
Please clarify... I have it narrowed to 3 possibilities.
-
No mention of a trade proposal in that article.... I'd do Bergren, Johansson or Willander, plus a 2nd no more.
-
Conditioning assignment.
-
At or before the deadline... What would it cost to re-sign Sprong? What could we get for Reimer and Ghost?
-
BINGO!!!!! WE HAVE A WINNER!!!

I seriously doubt that, it's why he fell in the 1st place. I'm no scout and I saw a lazy, selfish incomplete player... the scouts for teams 1-5 did too. I'm convinced Holland bought the public rankings hype. I can't prove it, but I'll believe it unless I hear otherwise from Holland in an interview.
-
Why does this team insist on going into an ineffective shell when they're up in the 3rd... play with pressure like in the 2nd for christ sakes.
-
An Athletic mock trade submission suggested Edvinsson for Zegras... if that's the price; no thanks.
