Agreed, that BOS 1st shouldn't be traded until you know where it will fall. The Bruins are always at risk of falling off a cliff, next year they are capped out, older, and losing UFAs. That pick could be a top 5 pick in 2025... until you get a solid feel on the status of that pick hold on to it.

And I was 100% correct. As I said at the time, I watched him play live in the Q; the signs were there. I'm convinced the Wings didn't scout him throughly enough, thinking he'd be off the board and made the TSN rankings pick, rather than go with the player(s) they had throughly scouted. This 1 billion percent. It's easy to fix when nobody knows what the numbers mean, how they're assigned and what the target value is. You can do a magic trick in front of people and they are usually fooled or fool themselves unless the know the gimmick.

I agree the trade cost should be less than what they paid, maybe not that low though... especially where we're a division rival. I'd throw a lot of draft capital at Keller and Crouse out of Arizona. Those 2 would slot into our top 6, add scoring and in the case of Crouse grit.

On that list the only team that would really concern me is Montreal, since they ate in division. Maybe Washington short term, but even with Bedard they'd need a rebuild for depth. If only, we're far more likely to drop 1 or 2 spots lol.

I'll bet when the NHL fixes this lottery the contenders will be: * Montreal - history, young core of budding offensive stars, etc. * Chicago - obviously a league favorite of old. The fan base disappears if they suck for long. * Washington - the hand off from Ovi to Bedard. Bedard riding shotgun when Ovi breaks the goals record. The fairly tale BS about a changing of the guard., etc All of these teams are in the East, or will be with a Huston expansion. I don't see them allowing the current top star and future top star of the league both being in the West, out of sight of the east coast prime time viewership. It goes without saying our 5% chance is really 0% since we're not allowed nice things in Gary's NHL.

Mazur and Wallinder playing 1 game would burn a year of their ELC, you won't see them. Cossa is 2 years from the NHL, I'm very high on him but the slow play is the way to go. Lombardi's not close, but aside for that sure.
