    Here's hoping for 2 close/competitive regulation losses to end the season to improve the lottery odds... at least with the way Rangers ownership pissed off the league they probably won't be gifted yet another lottery "win". Maybe we won't drop max spots this year... FINGERS CROSSED!

    This would be optimal... I'm quite high on Cossa... goalies are voodoo but at this point, I think it's worth a gamble with the Caps pick... I'd even get a bit more bold and trade up using the caps pick and our latest 2nd rounder or our own 3rd rounder. Also has anyone heard anything about Petruzzelli?

    I think that's been ruled out... I hope to win the lottery but I'm not planning how I'd spend the money. In other words I'm not actively hoping for something I don't think is possible... but hey I'll accept a miracle, sure.

    I didn't like the pick, I watched the player extensively in the Q, didn't like what I saw... I didn't like the cocky fill the nets comment. He's done nothing to wow anyone so far, which is what I expected. I only hope Zadina maintains enough trade value the next few years, that we're better off trading him than having him occupy a roster spot.

    I approve of this message. You've really put some words in my mouth there... what I said is Zadina will still be a bust 3 years from now, and a number of folks here will still be beating the "he's still young drum" because they can't face reality.

    He didn't draft McDavid, he drafted a one-dimensional winger... I really wanted Hughes or Dobson, either of which would have been a better fit than a non scoring goal scorer. But I do look forward to three years from now when Zadina is still what he is homer fans saying, but he's only 24... sheesh

    Meh the truth hurts. Hopefully we get some actual elite at forward with Raymond and in the next few drafts that Zadina can piggyback off of... Or preferrably we can trade him for picks to a team that, like some wings fans, are still blinded by the hype.

    No you don't get it... a kid that cheated to get offense, which was his calling card... is drafted mid-free fall by a hapless scouting staff. This one-dimensional player is then asked to invent a defensive game... he tries, gets marginally better defensively and the offense dries up. Zadina is being exposed for what he is a complementary winger with a good shot, who needs his teammates to do all of the heavy lifting if he's going to be an offensive threat.

    He's a 2nd/3rd liner tweener on a decent team. He's not a star and won't be.

    Our reality is that the draft has given us top end talent on a slow path of development. Seider and Raymond will be fantastic players BUT they are draft year +3 or 4 type guys. Our "luck" in the lotto means we've not been able to get draft year or draft year +1 type guys. The 2017 and 2018 drafts are what might have been drafts, I don't think we'll have many or any of those guys on this team when we're competitive.

    Just had a wacky idea... would this make any sense? To EDM: Mantha & Bernier To DET: Neal, Koskinen and 2x 1st + 2nd rounder. OR Neal, Koskinen and Ethan Bear, 1st + 2nd rounder. The salaries are about the same, BUT we take on term with Koskinen... we take 2 bad contracts and upgrade both active players for Edmonton and we get futures... do we get enough? The picks would likely be late in each round... Thoughts?

    He's basically just added filler while we wait for prospects to mature... they are more of less "insert name here" kinda guys, who with any luck we can flip for something even a 4th+ round pick before they leave as UFAs.
