The point/concern about Mantha (and frankly Larkin and Bertuzzi) is valid I think. We had a few down drafts between them and Seider and Raymond. I think it would make plenty of sense to move one or two of those guys for high end futures. I'd not just do it for fun or for something to do... BUT I'd think a first and two seconds would be a fair return that would realign our window.

If the cap was fair, it would be adjusted based on the income tax in each jurisdiction... so if the cap is 10M for teams in Florida with no income-tax it would be 11M in a state with 10% income tax, thus eliminating an unintended advantage for low tax jurisdictions.

Yea I don't think using a 2nd, not 32nd pick... on the projected 2nd best goalie in the draft is out of line.

I hope we use one of our 2nd rounders on Nico Daws, it would be nice to ad a quality goalie to the system.

I seem to recall some of this also, which really sheds (negative) light on our drafting dept. By then they were certainly living on past glory of late round gems like Datsyuk and Zetterberg.

Zadina hasn't clearly established himself bust yet, my prediction that he will be appropriately labeled as such is right on track. Zadina (before the hype completely fades) and #32. For #5 and a bad contract or attitude they want to move. They get a player with 2 years of "development" and the best 2nd rounder available. We get out from under a failing prospect and get a chance to let Yzerman make a good selection at 5. Those numbers aren't very impressive.

That's a big drop for a guy so highly touted...
