Just read a Montreal fan trade proposal... Mantha for Domi, Mete and a conditional pick in 2021, 3rd becomes a 2nd based on performance. Is that reasonable? If we trade Mantha I think I'd want a younger asset than Domi, unless we flip him for picks too. #5yearplan

Picking Perfetti, as I've said before, is 2000s Oilers type bafoonery. Is he a legit prospect sure... but if the tipping point is a connection to the state and a connection to a former teammate and not something in his game, then we're doomed. I'd like one of Stuzle, Byfield (if available) or if not Rossi, Drysdale, Raymond. A pro coach I know personally raved about Rossi.

At this point our rebuild seems to be have been forced, by constantly dropping in the lottery, into the Blues/Islanders model. By that I mean no ELITE pieces but maybe several star/high end players and tonnes of depth. Not to say we're close to that end result, but unless we get a few 2nd round gems or better lotto results I see this team post rebuild as a deep team with no superstar elite players.

This is silly but Fabbri did get over paid... I was thinking more in the 2M range. though it is "only" 950K it is an overpayment on an injury plagued assest with a very short track record of success. That should have been plenty of leverage to strong arm him in to that 2M range maybe even less. The point being made, and missed by the "brain trust" around here is that with Mantha and Bert their is far less leverage and if we overpaid for an asset we didn't have to, we might be taken to the cleaners on them, Can I have neither for 500 Alex? If he's on a better team he likely wouldn't get as much ice time and would be down the line up... double edged sword.

As a fan of this team I'm looking at position 4 plus... history has shown in Bettman's NHL we will drop 2-3 spots and we likely won't be dead last again next year. I'm going to mentally prepare for getting screwed in the draft lottery by pretending the top 3 prospects don't exist.
