This is silly but Fabbri did get over paid... I was thinking more in the 2M range. though it is "only" 950K it is an overpayment on an injury plagued assest with a very short track record of success. That should have been plenty of leverage to strong arm him in to that 2M range maybe even less. The point being made, and missed by the "brain trust" around here is that with Mantha and Bert their is far less leverage and if we overpaid for an asset we didn't have to, we might be taken to the cleaners on them, Can I have neither for 500 Alex? If he's on a better team he likely wouldn't get as much ice time and would be down the line up... double edged sword.

As a fan of this team I'm looking at position 4 plus... history has shown in Bettman's NHL we will drop 2-3 spots and we likely won't be dead last again next year. I'm going to mentally prepare for getting screwed in the draft lottery by pretending the top 3 prospects don't exist.

Looking at Columbus' goalie situation... Korpisalo and Elvis are both 26 and both seem like starter material... I'd love to see us add one of those guys... mind you I don't know if Columbus would want to part with either since they are both inexpensive. Next year they both get raises and total 6.8M

Larkin/Turris would be a good platoon 2C combo, in the absence of a legit 1C.

Larkin is a really good 2C or a platoon 1C with, well another Larkin type. We need a dynamic player or two. We have alot of 2nd and and 3rd liners in our rebuild we NEED elite skill... which is why sliding to 4th was such a kick in the nuts... we'll probably get a good player but we'll only know in 3 years time. I'm in.

Vernon played the majority of his career before the DPE, Cujo played 70% on the DPE and Ozzie played almost entirely in the DPE. Of those 3 I Think Vernon and Ozzie are hall worthy, in that order, Cujo not so much... He may get some kudos for the 1996 World Cup and Championships but he didn't win anything.

Of course you'd argue, that's your default setting... however Vernie was right there numerically with the guys of his era and was out conn smythe winner. He also played against those stacked Oilers teams more than say Patty Roy... his numbers are as good or better than guys like Fuhr. If Vernie wasn't elite he was what every comes just before it.

Mike Vernon is the most underrated goalie of his era, he should be in the HOF. I'm with you on Osgood though.
