Larkin is a 2C... so if Byfield is a 1C he'd be our top guy come contention time. So you're saying he'd pair well with 'white fish' and '18 Zadina...
-
Its done behind closed doors... so who knows what they **REALLY** do. I don't trust that process whatsoever.

If Lafreniere pulls an Eric Lindros on the Wings
mackel replied to Scott R Lucidi's topic in General
You're quite likely right but since that's not what the discussion has been about I'm not sure why you're bringing it up. -
I'd rather put less money and term into Lehner and/or Krug, adding those two would make this team a respectable bottom 5 team (see Ottawa). I think they would also accelerate our rebuild by 2 seasons.

What ever happened to Hampus Melen?

That Zadina analysis is bang on and we're gonna pay the price for it for years. -
Zadina = Fellow Czech Patrik Stefan https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=30952 Busty cold Zadina

You're going to be very disappointed brah!
-
Not a hero but he far exceeded what would be expected of a 7th rounder.... If he'd have been drafted in the 1st round he'd be a bust with the very same stats. Its a matter of not living up to/far exceeding expectation.
-
No they can only surprise... they are presumed fringe pros (meaning ECHL/AHL etc) a late round pick that plays a regular shift is a win, a late round star its a miracle.
-
Well in my mind then if we have the 1st pick and the team in 2nd wants Laffy and we want Stutzie you leverage the situation and get another high end asset. Don't just go blow you brains out and use the 1st pick on Laffy.

Leave me outta dis Drop that mic!

Replace Seider with Zadina and that could be mistaken for an @krsmith17 quote The problem with your plan is that the teams who want a Larkin, Mantha, etc and are willing to trade a package including 1st rounders are teams that will very likely be picking in the back half of the 1st round where you have a less than 50/50 shot at getting a player of the caliber you traded and even if you did it would take 4+ years to materialize.
-
I'm not so sure... first Lafreniere would help them draw french fans from Gatineau... and secondly they have a much better high end player/prospect pool than we do.
-
The BEST way to accelerate or rebuild would be wining the #1 overall pick and trading it to Ottawa for their combo of two picks between 2 and 4, if that materializes. I'd also keep Montreal's number handy, because if their pick can be used on Askarov I'd be trading Mantha for that pick and a prospect/payer/pick. IF you could walk away from this draft with 2 of Stutz, Rossi, Raymond, Drysdale, et all and Askarov that would be massive.

Hello elephant in the room... #Bust

I'd opt for Abby since his contract is longer and more miserable to use a conventional buyout on.
-
I was thinking of a compliance buyout, like the ones post lockout... this is apparently being discussed because of the impact this will likely have on the cap. If you have 1 freebie I think you'd have to axe Abby?
-
Let's all home for some post Corona virus compliance buyouts... but if we get 1 compliance buyout who goes?? Abby or Nielsen?
-
Funny, but this draft class is it's own entity. Look no further than last year at 6... we got a stud, where we got a dud at 6 in 2018 :-) Some red meat for you in these locked down times @The 91 of Ryans
-
If we had the 1st pick and Ottawa had the 2nd plus 3, 4 or even... I'd gladly trade the 1st overall for those picks.
-
Respectfully, we have a 2C... Dylan Larkin
-
What he wants and what's gonna happen are two totally different things!

NHL Season officially suspended until further notice - March 12, 2020
mackel replied to greenrebellion's topic in General
They already have plans in the works to do just that... The anti-Red Wings bias of the league is really, really shining through. The only teams in the draft lottery really hurt by this early end to the season are teams like Montreal who were/are actively tanking. Teams that are bad, Detroit, Ottawa, SJ, LA, etc have been bad ALL season, that MUST be taken into account! Imagine in this deep draft, where if their is a god we'd have the 1st pick, we end up picking 6+; it sets this team back 3 years minimum.
