For the record.... I dont know much about many of the guys in our draft window this year... but the more I read on podkolzin the more I'm worried. I would not like that pick on that basis.

We'll be having this discussion about Zadina in 2-3 years... (Bear poked) -

Signing Karlsson for any longer than 4 years is lunacy. He's in a steep injury induced decline and that isn't likely to change. -

Those folks will likely move to Cali post retirement for the social services available that they didn't pay for during their working years. -

That's actually not a counter point but thanks for restating what I said.... I'd rather bury Daley/Erricsson and have an up and coming player in that roster spot... Assuming Cholo or some signee is deemed ready for primetime I hope the fact we have Daley and Ericsson at 3-4 million doesn't block those guys. Since that cap hit needs to be endured either way it should come at the cost of a year or a good young players career just to make a fringe vet feel good about finishing out in the NHL. -

I think you're right if you're suggesting Green can contribute and Daley can't. We need to bury Daley and Errorson. Unless its contrary to the CBA I'd be.fully prepared to send both to GR. They would clear waivers (if not all the better) and you have the best players playing on the big club. The cap wouldn't be a problem their replacements would be cheap ELCs and their salaries need to count either way. I really don't understand why this doesn't happen more often. -

If an extension was prenegotiated I'd trade Zadina and Green. I'm not high on Zadina (well documented) but you might be able to peddle him as an ELC replacement for Liane allowing them to trade Liane at some future point. -

Are those two "high end prospects"? I've considered both AHLers in th making. -

I'd not go nuts but I would certainly explore trading up.... 6th and our second rounder this year or possibly 6th and our 2nd this year and next year. I'd pay that price. -
Hard pass... Karlsson is damaged goods... He looked like a shadow of himself with the Sharks. His best games we very good but that was just a few games out of the entire run.

If Byram is available at #4 you have to try and trade up IMHO. #6 plus a prospect, 2nd rounder something... -

Mantha for RNH, could be the new Neely for Pederson. -

My plan would be to shake things up by telling some big salary underperformers that an NHL roster spot is not guaranteed. Abby, Helm and a few others would be told if they don't earn their spot its off to waivers and Grand Rapids... salary cap be dammed. -

Is that a legit rumour? Mantha for RNH? That would be a bad deal for us... we'd get older, smaller and more expensive. If we want a center, maybe consider Turris... the Preds apparently want out of his contract (which is bad) but he has good chemistry with Mantha at the worlds... and we might be able to send some salary back or leverage a 1st rounder for the cap relief. -
Yes and if you read Kips post its makes no sense... Quebec is in NA, Mantha played in NA his whole life including the Q league... but somehow doesn't know the NA game?
-
Quebec and its league are in NA when last I checked. Which makes the Mantha comparison baffling.

50% likelyhood of being a run of the mill NHL winger. Bust relative to hype and expectations. 30% likelyhood of being a complete bust ie. out of the league by his late 20s with no significant accomplishments. 20% likelyhood of being "the next Kucherov at 21" I hope this clears things up so people don't feel the need to comment on my behalf @krsmith17. I have no idea what that means.
-
Let's revisit this in 2-3 years when one side of the other will be proven correct... nobody is convincing anyone of anything at this point.
-
Worth noting that when he learned to play defence the Wings won cups.
-
+/- isn't a perfect stat to be sure... but its imperfections apply equally across a team over a large sample size. Ie. He was by far the worst. I feel he will be a bust because he is a one dimensional player. Part of that is that he lacks defensive acumen.
-
What a defensive wizard... -17, next worst -7. You must have "don't stop believing" playing every time you post positive commentary about Zadina's defence...
-
You're inference regarding Zadina is incorrect. I've watched and wasn't shown anything that would alter my assessment. I follow Dobson, because were from the same Province. I didn't follow Bouchard or Hughes (other than his call up) since their is no point... that ship has sailed. We made our pick for worse or for worse. Defenceman take longer to develop. I'd expect a top tier D man to take longer to hit his stride than a winger. The game is littered with examples... but here's one Hedman... he was roundly criticized early on in his career, now not so much.

@Jonas Mahonas can't you see I'm the one being attacked and trolled because I'm exercising some independent thought... Every time the discussion settles down a snide remark from the peanut gallery causes it to flare back up. I'm more than content to let time prove me right and buy a round of "I told you sos' " later.
