  1. Are those two "high end prospects"? I've considered both AHLers in th making.
  2. I'd not go nuts but I would certainly explore trading up.... 6th and our second rounder this year or possibly 6th and our 2nd this year and next year. I'd pay that price.

    Karlsson on the move?

Hard pass... Karlsson is damaged goods... He looked like a shadow of himself with the Sharks. His best games we very good but that was just a few games out of the entire run.
  4. If Byram is available at #4 you have to try and trade up IMHO. #6 plus a prospect, 2nd rounder something...
  5. Mantha for RNH, could be the new Neely for Pederson.
  6. Yea my phone had a hissy fit.
  7. Deja vu? Not sure what u mean CRL.
  8. My plan would be to shake things up by telling some big salary underperformers that an NHL roster spot is not guaranteed. Abby, Helm and a few others would be told if they don't earn their spot its off to waivers and Grand Rapids... salary cap be dammed.
  9. Is that a legit rumour? Mantha for RNH? That would be a bad deal for us... we'd get older, smaller and more expensive. If we want a center, maybe consider Turris... the Preds apparently want out of his contract (which is bad) but he has good chemistry with Mantha at the worlds... and we might be able to send some salary back or leverage a 1st rounder for the cap relief.

    2019 Draft

Yes and if you read Kips post its makes no sense... Quebec is in NA, Mantha played in NA his whole life including the Q league... but somehow doesn't know the NA game?

    2019 Draft

Quebec and its league are in NA when last I checked. Which makes the Mantha comparison baffling.

    2019 Draft

50% likelyhood of being a run of the mill NHL winger. Bust relative to hype and expectations. 30% likelyhood of being a complete bust ie. out of the league by his late 20s with no significant accomplishments. 20% likelyhood of being "the next Kucherov at 21" I hope this clears things up so people don't feel the need to comment on my behalf @krsmith17. I have no idea what that means.

    2019 Draft

Let's revisit this in 2-3 years when one side of the other will be proven correct... nobody is convincing anyone of anything at this point.

    2019 Draft

Worth noting that when he learned to play defence the Wings won cups.

    2019 Draft

+/- isn't a perfect stat to be sure... but its imperfections apply equally across a team over a large sample size. Ie. He was by far the worst. I feel he will be a bust because he is a one dimensional player. Part of that is that he lacks defensive acumen.

    2019 Draft

What a defensive wizard... -17, next worst -7. You must have "don't stop believing" playing every time you post positive commentary about Zadina's defence...

    2019 Draft

You're inference regarding Zadina is incorrect. I've watched and wasn't shown anything that would alter my assessment. I follow Dobson, because were from the same Province. I didn't follow Bouchard or Hughes (other than his call up) since their is no point... that ship has sailed. We made our pick for worse or for worse. Defenceman take longer to develop. I'd expect a top tier D man to take longer to hit his stride than a winger. The game is littered with examples... but here's one Hedman... he was roundly criticized early on in his career, now not so much.

    2019 Draft

@Jonas Mahonas can't you see I'm the one being attacked and trolled because I'm exercising some independent thought... Every time the discussion settles down a snide remark from the peanut gallery causes it to flare back up. I'm more than content to let time prove me right and buy a round of "I told you sos' " later.

    2019 Draft

Do you even read a post before bitching about it? I said at the time of the draft I felt they should draft a D. They would have drafted the one they ranked highest of the D available. I'd have gone Dobson/Bouchard over Hughes (personally) that much you got right. Dobson is a playing quite well and making a push for back to back Mem cups. I've not paid any attention to Hughes or Bouchard since the draft. Hull, Marner and Kucherov are star players (wingers)... that's the link (clearly you missed it)... I don't think Zadina will be a star winger... I think he'll be a serviceable top 6/9 winger.

    2019 Draft

Wow great point... I'm totally won over... if you can't post anything other than insults towards those you disagree with, you're not worth talking to.

    2019 Draft

Yes in my opinion Zadina will be a player of the caliber you could draft in the 2nd or 3rd round... that isn't BS it's my projection. I think you heed to go back and look at players selected in past drafts, your argument is incoherent. Many people here feel he's going to be elite, elite... and I've read on numerous occasions that Kucherov didn't have an easy start to his NA pro career, which IS comparing Zadina to Kucherov.

    2019 Draft

@krsmith17 @ChristopherReevesLegs Inflammatory rhetoric/hyperbole aside... 1. I saw alot of Zadina in Jr. I observed a one dimensional player who sacrificed defence and his responsibilities defensively for offence. I did not think his game would translate well to the pro leagues. I stand by that assessment 100% and his numbers this year back that up. Will he learn a more complete game maybe?? Will he lose offence in the process almost certainly. 2. In the lead up to the draft I was terrified we'd have Zadina "fall into our lap" I felt the Wings would draft him and that it would be a huge mistake (see above). I believe we should have used that pick on Dobson, Bouchard or Hughes... whichever we felt was the better pick. We'd fill the most prominent need in our organization.... a need that has existed since Lidstrom retired. 3. I think people who are expecting the next Brett Hull, Mitch Marner, etc will be very, bitterly disappointed. I agree with @ChristopherReevesLegs assessment that Zadina will play in the league, he'll be a top 6/9 forward but will fill role that a player we could have drafted in the 2nd or 3rd round would have. 4. I think Zadina will be a bust relative to the expectations we have of a #6 pick with all the attached hype hes had. If you were hoping for a one dimensional, defensive liability, who may or may not put up points you'll be satisfied and won't use the bust label. If you're expecting Kucherov 2.0, it's not happening. Juxtaposing that vs a potential #1 top pair D, I think we wasted that pick last year. ‐----‐‐----‐-------------------- If Byram was available at 4, would you trade for that pick? What would you give up? I'd trade #6, 2019 2nd and a 2020 2nd. I'd be willing to go as far as #6 plus a lottery protected 1st in 2020/2021

    2019 Draft

Floor: Helm Prime Ceiling: Nyquist Prime Even if he reaches what I consider his ceiling their would have been better options at 6. Its not stupid it's a reasonable concern based on a less than stellar season (that's a kind description). Calling someone stupid because you don't agree with them is childish.
