CRL please don't make valid points, please allow for revisionist rhetoric vis-a-vis Zadina... please note that if the 6th (former projected top 3) pick tops out as a Tatar (60th) or Nyquist (121st) type player that isn't a bust. These are the rules... If you don't follow them you run the risk of being bullied and called a troll.
-
Yuck it up... but I stand by my assessment. Depending on what's there at 6, this would be a year to trade back. Unlike last year with many attractive options and the player we ultimately drafted.... this year the cream of the crop will be gone by 6. I'd be open to trading back and grabbing an extra couple of 2nds. I think the player you get at 10-15 has every chance to be as good or better than the player at 6.

Yes you are. Dithering shouldn't be confused with level headedness.

You're calling me stupid, calling out grammar and I'm the troll... good talk.

Krsmith17 try reading a post before you reply... I said an extended Trouba. Your response also ignores my POV that Zagina isn't our top prospect... I'd put Cholo and Veleno well ahead of him. You're splitting hairs on the complementary non-sense... they are obviously going to publicly comment positively what clearly are the deficiencies in his game... I'd say after seeing him day in and day out their is a case of buyers remorse... and if not their should be. No.

Montreal drafted coca-cola last year apparently for need... but maybe they saw what I see. Complementing a young player that's faltering is more about building confidence than providing an honest assessment. Would you expect Holland to have said we wish we'd have drafted Bouchard? What would that accomplish ot would destroy any confidence Zagina had and rendered his trade value nill. On that note if Winnipeg hasn't clued in I'd ship Zagina there for an extended Trouba in a nanosecond.

Dropping like a stone isn't a warning sign?? Opting to take a one-dimensional winger, who is the 1st round version of Martin Frk was a bad decision, especially when this team desperately needs as many top of the draft defensive prospects as possible.
-
That was of course a bit of hyperbole, but I have no expectations of Zagina being an impactful player for us. It was a bad pick and all the waning signs were there... we should have drafted for our needs ie. The best available defenceman.
-
Since that won't happen, I'm willing to chance it... it's just as likely he'll be playing the the Czech beer leagues by then.
-
Worst case would be taking a one-dimensional player who is free falling in the draft and thinking you got a steal. AKA. A repeat of the 2018 draft.
-
Could be worse, he could be a Yank.
-
Years??? His name will be mud by Christmas. Fans will expect him to come in and fix that disaster right away. Which is unreasonable and impossible.

Apparently Holland to the Oilers is still in play... https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/edmonton-oilers-next-gm-will-ken-holland-wants-job/

The problem is a player like Abby, Helm etc shouldn't be paid market value (by us)... if you have a player that can be replaced or mostly replaced for less money you have to let those roster filler types go get paid "market value" somewher else.
-
It's time to bury one or both of those guys in the AHL and forget they exist (other than the majority of their cap hit)... they may not like it but it's a performance based business. Effective **

Mods do something about this ^^^^ LOL
-
I'm not sure if that was a typo or not... but kudos on Zagina.
-
People actually proposed spending assests to trade up for Zadina??? Bad enough we had the misfortune of him slipping to us and causing us to not draft Bouchard or another D.

Gerber was such a baby.

2019 Offseason Rebuild Thread, Pt. 2 - What's the Yzerplan?
mackel replied to Dabura's topic in General
Why can't we send Daley and or Erricson to Grand Rapids? If they clear great we'd get 950k back in cap and then they are off the roster. -
What an eloquent and detailed point of view...

Canada seems fully intact and just fine... it's a little less mean and a little more proactive than it was during the days of darkness from 06-15.
