To me this means they plan to clear salary and make a big splash with offer sheets.

Both he and Ericsson are vastly overpaid. You don't have one of the highest payrolls in the league combined with one of the worst records in the league and not have over paid players. Our problem isn't that we have an 8-10 million a year guy playing like a 3 million a year guy... but we have numerous 3-6 million dollar conttacts for middling players. Contract's that were signed after a good year, or with overly optimistic projections of future performance, or worst of all for "loyalty" a nebulous term that means don't question us about our blatant error in signing that contract.

Larkin is a 1c on a bad team a 2c on a good team. He's very Nazem Kadri like, with a slightly higher ceiling.

I'd love to see him traded for a #1D, with this contract it probably won't happen now... and that makes me sad

I'm cautiously optimistic about this draft. I hope we go D with size at 6, but I have a feeling Michigan > "need for size" and we draft Hughes. That's a pick I feel would be a huge risk and likely a huge mistake.

I see you're back to the usual shtick... what we need is to draft the better player and all of the available data suggest's it's not Hughes. Picking him would strongly imply a Michigan bias.

This is how I feel about Hughes... remove "health" and replace with "Michigan"
