Quincey re-signed by DET. 2 yr s $4.25 mill AAV

That's a waste of a roster spot. And 4.25 of cap space, but since nobody worth signing wants to come here the cap space is irrelevant.

I really hope this spurs KH to offer sheet Subban. Make the deal as rich and unmatchable as you can. It's not like their are any negatives to doing so, nobody will sign with us and nobody will trade fairly with us now anyway.

    Dan Cleary may return...sigh

So we're going to follow up last years bad decision to "pry" Cleary away from that supposed 3 year deal in Philly, by rewarding him with even a chance to play again. If management feels they owe him something due to that verbal agreement, offer him a job selling hot dogs, scrubbing the urinals, polishing the statues, getting coffee. You know something his is capable of doing, cause hockey has passed him by!

    GM moves

**LIKE** The only change I'd make to your analysis is that we need more Canadians on the team. The primary make up of the team presently are soft skilled euros and 3rd/4th liners from in and around Michigan.

    Next Seasons Needs/Team Future

GMs don't use this option very often, my point is to get a player of that caliber... our GM should strongly consider doing it. No matter what consequences you can dream up.

Have the Flyers had a retaliatory offer sheet sent to a player? No, didn't think so. Sincerely, Arm Chair GM

The logic of using an offersheet is sound... if someone tries to punish you by overpaying a player don't match... take the draft picks and laugh at them for being cap strapped.

They could do that yes, but they would then have good players signed for more than they're worth... While we'd have a superstar signed to top end money.

What we really need is a top end defenceman... Kronner is a solid #2, or a fantastic #3... What he isn't is a #1 d-man. I know I'll get slammed for this BUT... I think the Wings should fire an offer sheet off to PK Subban. Max money, max years with as many poision pills as Montreal can swallow. If nothing else it will "cost" a division rival some cash.

Wings will buy out Tootoo, not Franzen.

What seems to get lost when people look at the stat lines on the back of these players hockey cards is the context of the production. Hossa is a game breaker, he can and often does for Chicago have a great shift... Make something happen, ie score, setup a goal, hold the puck down low, play hard defensively etc. Franzen, he floats, gives the puck away, won't throw the body, and puts up points in bunches... Especially when a game is effectively either already won or lost. Bottom line I'd rather have Hossa get a goal in a tight game than have Franzen who scores a goal to make the score 5-2 in a loss.

    ECQF - Game 4 - Bruins 3 at Red Wings 2 (F/OT)

    This isn't gonna go well. 8-2 ----> Boston. :-(

Anyone know why Gus is in net tonight?
  16. When I was watching the trade deadline coverage on TSN, Bob MacKenzie said as clear as day that the Red Wings felt Jarnkrok wouldn't play for the organization. He wanted big time minutes in the big league, that wasn't going to happen with the Wings so he wanted out. We traded a player who might be good, but who didn't want to play here. It's that simple no need for all the dramatics.
  17. I read somewhere today that Vancouver wanted nyquist, Tatar, mantha and our 1st in 2014 for Kessler. I don't have the "source" at hand but that was said to be the ask for him.

    Luongo to Panthers

I was gonna call BS on this, but it's also on the TSN.ca website. How bad is that trade at the draft looking now. No Schneider no Luongo.

12/21 GDT: Red Wings 5 @ Maple Leafs 4 (SO, yes, SO)

It's a Canadian, specifically a Leafs broadcast... Get over yourself. The Red Wings broadcasts are biased I don't see you complaining about that.

The CBC has broadcast teams that tend to cover one or two teams rather than them all. Interesting reply though, my point is simple the CBC is no more biased than any broadcast crew. But a lot of folks around here seem to think other broadcast crews should gush all over their Red Wings, which is simply foolish.

I'm really confused as to why LGWers hate the CBC abnouncers so much... They call a great game, every bit as good as Ken and Mick. However, they focus more on the Canadian team than the wings. Which is to be expected since that's the market they are catering to. And by the way it's exactly what Ken and Mick do, the only difference... You don't notice them preaching cause you're in the choir.

Great Cleary scored. I'm sure he'll have a contract extension waiting in his stall after the game.

Jokes aside it seems like we have an issue with injuries. Training and preventative maintenance with injuries is as likely a place for improvement my as adding a goon to the squad.
