He's also -8 or -9. He's being exposed as the 3/4 dman he really is, versus the 1/2 damn we'd like him to be.

Another term for over ripe is rotten... Just sayin!
-
Sorry but you're completely wrong on this one... Jurco didn't play in the OHL. He played junior in the QMJHL. Secondly his production was very similar in years 1 and 2. 64GP-51PTS and 60GP-56PTS

If that doesn't get the old #firstworldproblems nothing does!

Considering the amnesty buyouts and a few players hitting ufa we could really clear out some dead wood on next years roster... Clearly -ufa White -ufa Buyout any of: Samuelson Bertuzzi Quincey Colaiacovo On a side note. If you want to see a group of people collectively lose their minds, hope that Holland resigns Clearly. I can see the LGW servers going into meltdown mode should that happen.

I think it's a matter of perspective. You don't notice Ken and the gang because you agree with their take on the game... They are broadcasting the game to the red wings home market. The CBC broadcast is geared toward their home market Edmonton and Canada more generally. As a wings fan I could see no more bias toward the Oilers on CBC than toward the Wings on an FSD broadcast. Use the Chicago crew as the bar. They are disgustingly "homer" in their call of the game. The CBC broadcast today was not even on the same planet as that bar.

I think it would make far more sense to be looking at next years draft class. We can be reasonably assured we'll get a shot at some of the top tier talent available in that pool, given the mediocre defensive we'll ice in 2012-13.

It's been interesting reading all of this on the sidelines. But let me throw this out there, do you consider the Flames as likely to make the playoffs? If you look at the current rosters of Calgary and Detroit as they stand right now... Their is a lot of similarity, some proven players, some roster fillers and some younger guys getting a shot. Personally I don't think either team will be consistent enough to make the playoffs, they will be close, fight to the end but simply not be talented or deep enough to make it.

I wish you weren't wrong about this but with Cam Neely in the hall you obviously are... when he was inducted atleast here in Canada it was the old "what would this guy have accomplished had he not been injured by Ulf Samuelsson" line...
-
Does anyone have an idea of the cost of a cab ride from DTW airport to the Doubletree? Mapquest says its 18.5 miles or about 24 minutes... a solid approximation of cost would be greatly appreciated.

You may want to put your comments into perspective... He's never played on a truly good team (career) and as for a bad start with the Devils this year, just look at that team as a whole early on and you'll be able to figure out where you went wrong in your analysis.

The best backup we could get would be Johan Hedberg from the Devils... He's cheap and very good...
-
I think we need some insurance in net, if Howard stinks up the joint I'm not sure we can rely on Osgood to stay healthy... I'd like to add Johan Hedberg, good depth move for this year and it would be nice to have him in the fold for backup duty next year in the likely event that Osgood retires.
-
What about Eric Brewer... I think we could squeak him under the cap if we were to ship out some salary in a deal for him...
-
Personally I think our roster needs a shakeup... I think too many of our players have become comfortable and as a result complacent... I know we have the loyalty thing going on and that we have good long term contracts for core players, etc but some of the secondary guys like Huds, E, Salei, Bert, Miller, Eaves etc are expendable (replaceable) and a trade sends a message to the entire team not just the guys being shown the door. I'm not suggesting blowing the team up, far from it but a trade can inject some new blood and light some fires under asses.

Jonas Hiller, hes a work horse and a very good goalie.
-
What about Michael Leighton (sp) he's the 3rd wheel in Philly, played well for them last year down the stretch and in the playoffs... he has some experience in the playoffs after last year and should be had cheap.
-
I think this thread among others this season is a product of the eons between wings games... lets see the boys play already!
-
This is an impossible question to answer... however, the average hockey player on average would get hit considerably more often than the average football player in a given season. That's about all we can say conclusively.
-
Ask them in a contract year, they may be motivated to chat...

The goalies I mentioned in my post are/were every bit as good as Osgood... unfortunately for them they weren't playing on the Wings... Osgood is the Bic lighter of goaltenders... useful, but easily replaced.
-
Posted this in the last Osgood topic: why does this always happen when Osgood's name comes up??? lots of people blowing gaskets about how good/not good he is... I thought we all agreed last year he was a mediocre goalie who played for great teams and consequently has better numbers than other goalies of his ilk... such as Arthus Irbe, Dan Cloutier, Damian Rhodes, Ron Tugnutt, Steve Sheilds, Manny Fernendez, etc
