Ansar Khan ‏@AnsarKhanMLive 1m Colaiacovo confirms he is in tonight. Lashoff is out.

    WCQF - (8) Wild vs. (1) Blackhawks

Nope. Especially not after Backstrom went down with that weird injury before game 1. Still, they sealed their fate with their craptacular play in April so in spite of having one of the highest payrolls in the league and signing the two biggest free agents, they barely got past the Blue Jackets for the 8th seed.
  5. Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 1h Letang, Subban and Suter named finalists for the Norris Trophy. Not surprising. These days you can guess who'll be nominated by picking the 3 defensemen with the most points. Predictions for the winner? I haven't seen enough of these guys to have an informed opinion comparing them. Not that that's ever stopped the voters.

ECQF - (8) NY Islanders vs. (1) Penguins

I knew McGuire was a goofball. He didn't bother me as much as he does a lot of people, but I didn't fully appreciate how biased he is for the Pens. It's getting chippy at the end of the game here and all Pierre is pointing out is the Isles players actions towards the Pens. Vokoun with the shutout.

ECQF - (8) NY Islanders vs. (1) Penguins

Agreed. Full speed I thought he skated through and got his head, but on the replay it looked more like the arm he had sticking out. Still a crap play. The NHL in general needs to protect goalies from getting run like that. And Vokoun definitely has provided stability to the Pens tonight.

    Ovechkin -- Laziest Play Ever

It isn't very long actually. People have created a stereotype based on a few star players. When Brett Hull did it, it was just "Brett being brett." When a Russian player does it, it's "look at that lazy Russian." Datsyuk isn't the exception on the Wings. With Fedorov I remember it being more moodiness than doing anything remotely close to what Ovie has done. Larionov, Fetisov, Konstantinov. Those guys weren't lazy.

Nice goal by Crosby. The wheels are coming off for the Isles. And I had to mute the tv because McGuire was so excited on the Crosby goal it was making me uncomfortable. Kunitz just ran Nabokov and may have hit him in the head.

    Ovechkin -- Laziest Play Ever

I'm not sure why you think I have blinders on but I've never seen Z do anything like that. I'm not expecting Ovie to be a selke candidate nor should he spend his time trying to be. But this is not an isolated incident from him. Those kind of plays are what makes the difference between being a playoff contender and being a perennial playoff underachiever. And that play people are nitpicking about was on the GWG for the Rangers. It's like with Franzen. No one is arguing Ovechkin's talent. But crap like that speaks volumes about his leadership, heart, and commitment to winning.

oof. bad 2nd goal by Nabby. And someone needs to make a gif of Orpik crumpled on the ice like his spine got snapped in half after getting hit, looking up and realizing there's no penalty, then hopping up and rejoining the play. I don't want the Pens to win, but I've always kinda liked Vokoun. I'm conflicted.

    Ovechkin -- Laziest Play Ever

He was that far behind the play because he didn't bother backchecking at all. He didn't even have to go full speed, had he at least participated in the play and been skating back towards his own end he would've been there in time to at least try to stop the shot on the wide open net. I forgot he was the captain. Good lord. I used to be a fan of Ovechkin when he came into the league. So much talent but so little heart.

    Ovechkin -- Laziest Play Ever

He wasn't actually coming off the bench. (I thought he was too initially). If you watch the Youtube clip you can see he's been on the ice. He's just so far behind the play and coasting it looked like he must've been coming off the bench.

    Ovechkin -- Laziest Play Ever

Some of them were out of position maybe, but they were at least trying to make a play. That is nothing like what Ovechkin is doing here. Literally coasting towards the guy about to score a goal. He had the best seat in the house. The YT clip shows the best angle. I thought he came off the bench but he was on the ice the whole time, coasting from center ice. When you're paid $9.5 million a year you're expected to be a star player. And a star player doesn't coast towards the net like that. That was the game winner. In the playoffs. Do you guys seriously see nothing wrong with his play there? I wonder how his teammates feel about his effort ? Yeah, Semin was clearly the problem in Washington.

    drinking game!

To get an idea of what being interviewed after a game is like: After watching a Wings game, sprint around the block a few times. Then have someone ask you questions about the hockey game you just watched. Make sure they videotape your answers. When answering remember that you can't use profanity, you're trying not to sound like an idiot, you're trying not to say anything that might reflect poorly on the team or anything that will inflame your opponent and end up a motivational quote, and you're also trying just to catch your breath. Also you probably never went to college and took public speaking courses. It ain't easy.

    WCQF - (6) Sharks vs. (3) Canucks

Hopefully this will humble some of their more idiotic fans. God they were intolerable a couple seasons ago. But honestly getting swept may have saved them from a few more years of playoff disappointments by spurring management to make more dramatic moves. Like ending the goalie debacle with luongo.
  17. His whole NHL career to date has been 53 games spread over 2 seasons. I expected him to progress more than he has, but it's too early to give up on him. He's still having positional problems at the NHL level but he's getting more physical and more confident in his offense. That was Smith who made the nice stretch pass to Brunner catching the Ducks on a line change. I'd call that a flash of brilliance. Or at least Rafalski-like.
  18. And not to nitpick but Kindl is in his 3rd season on the wings and has over 150 NHL games under his belt. He's not exactly a rookie.
  19. Lashoff Kindl is not a good pairing.
  20. Agreed. All local guys are going to be to some extent, in great part because of their audience. A lot of people would be annoyed listening to a local broadcast where the guy was totally neutral. well s***.
  21. Whew that was close. Franzen was sleeping on the guy cutting back door.
  22. Mick maybe, but not Daniels. These guys have been awful. The play by play guy is regularly working in what he thinks should be penalty calls on the Wings. On the matching minors at the end of the game they were baffled what the Ducks player did that was worthy of a penalty. At one point Jimmy made a save and was balancing sort of crouched over because the puck was trapped between his knees. Perry was in front of the net and bumped him lightly, Jimmy fell back on his butt to keep holding the puck but the play was dead. No big deal. But the Ducks announcer said he went down like he was shot like with a sniper rifle and that Perry had a good laugh about it. ' Neither of those things happened. Perry was just standing there, talking to the ref. I never remember these guys being this bad.
  23. grabbed him with his bare hand and dragged him down with him. I'm fine with coincidentals for that. They were all over each other.
  24. I have to watch the local broadcast because the NBC one is blacked out for me.
