You say you don't take them casually, but you're still comparing Bettman's impact on a game to people who caused the death of over 10 million people. language aside, I agree with Electrophile. The analogy is thrown around way to casually. I think people don't use Bin Laden because it's a more recent tragedy and probably is more obvious how ridiculous of an analogy it is to use.

#6 Chicago Blackhawks vs. #3 Phoenix Coyotes

There was no penalty called on that play. And that clip is starting awfully late. Honestly watching it during the game and on the replay, it did look like Shaw yanked his foot. Though the player may have gone down a wee bit dramatically. -

Wow that's some serious homework you did. I stand corrected. For the record I don't really think there is some league wide conspiracy to prop up Pittsburgh (I think the Pens did it through a series of fortunate top draft picks). It's why I made the joke about the tinfoil hat. I didn't remember Campbell ever apologizing like that though so I figured the conspiracy theorists would go nuts. And I agree, the league really crapped the bed with its officiating on the first night of playoffs. If they wanted to erase the impression they're a marginal canadian sport that's basically mugging guys on skates, they didn't do a very good job. -
Shea Weber fined for Zetterberg "headslam"
haroldsnepsts replied to Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot)'s topic in General
Wow that's going a long way to explain away his helmet cracking. While I believe you've been wearing a helmet most of your life, from your expert opinion as someone who wears NHL helmets, you can tell that there's no way it cracked in three places? In spite of you having not been at the game. Not having touched or inspected the helmet, or having even gotten a good look at the helmet before or after the headslam. Given that total lack of information, the most logical conclusion to you is obviously Zetterberg's lid was ready to blow at any second from general use over the course of this season, not from him getting his head slammed into the glass. Makes sense. -

OT! -
This. Bitz's hit was suspension worthy for sure, but as you mention, he was at least trying to make a hockey play. That stinks for Clifford. He's 21 years old and will hit, fight, grind, score some goals. But the kids got concussion issues already. When he fights he fights wide open, not protecting himself and he's been caught with a couple bombs. He's all heart though.

Blues get outworked along the boards and lose in OT. Havlsplat wheels and fires. Probably one Halak should've had unless it hit someone. -

Nice. I want this one to go to OT too. I only watched a few minutes in between periods of the Sharks Blues game but it reminded me what a gutless puke Torres is. -

Sharks tie it. Blues players standing around their own net mesmerized by the puck. -

I guess if I'm just considering the quality of playoff hockey I want to see, I gotta root against the Sharks. Diving would go down dramatically if they and the Canucks went out in the first round. -

Discuss the series without personal attacks please. Even if a post is 90% about the game but you call someone a name, I'm going to delete the whole thing. so if you don't want your thoughts zapped into the ether, keep it civil. Thanks. -

I forgot for a minute that Jackhole is on the Blues. Maybe the Sharks winning wouldn't be so bad... Halak with the dive. -

Vlasic just got absolutely outmuscled on that Blues goal. Nice deflection. -

Honestly I like the kind of game the Blues play. And I couldn't bring myself to root for the whining diving sharks. Though a first round upset would probably dramatically cut down on the little lectures we've been getting from a couple Blues fans lately. -

To me it's not about the mistakes themselves, but the fact that Campbell of all people came out admitting they made a mistake. I can't think of another instance where that's happened. And in general it was a pretty terrible showing by the NHL officiating top to bottom last night. -

Edi, this one's for you. Put on the tinfoil hat! NHL unhappy with missed offsides on Flyers goal But you know Campbell, he's always admitting the league makes all kinds of mistakes and apologizing for things. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the Pens being involved. -

For those who think Bettman has the refs calling games to favor the Pens, that first goal by Briere that started the comeback was offsides. Don't get me wrong, I loved watching Pittsburgh lose in heartbreaking fashion. Just sayin'... -

haroldsnepsts replied to Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot)'s topic in General
I could be wrong but I thought when a player was fined that put them into "repeat offender" status. I swear I heard Shanny or someone saying it as they were explaining some fine, practically acknowledging that amount is a slap on the wrist. The funny part is that Cooke doesn't even do crap like that anymore. But you're right. Once he finds out it's pocket change he may go back to his old ways... -

Weber was already fined once this season for a hit from behind. But I'm sure NEXT time they'll take into consideration his repeat offender status. -
It only took you one post to pass judgment in this thread. Why should you expect others to wait?

If that's really the Kings Official twitter. Whoever was on it last night must've been drunk or something to be trolling like that.
