Shea Weber fined for Zetterberg "headslam"

This thread is about Weber's shot at Zetterberg, not the Franzen love tap. Please don't derail the thread. -

I can't remember if it was on that play or not but Kesler did eventually get a penalty for diving. Which is impressive considering how they rarely call it. Henrik had a really awful dive too. And their fans wonder why people hate that team. The standard defense is "All teams have players who dive" but the reality is only one team has so many players that dive like that. -

Kings win! And Richards Kronwalls Burrows. Love it! Brown with the empty netter after Burrows screwed up and had the puck skip over his stick. Clifford apparently out after the hit to the head. That's too bad. The kid's already had concussion issues. -

I don't disagree with McKenzie's assessment of the likelihood of suspension. But letting the lack of injury so heavily influence suspension is the major flaw in the NHL discipline. So Weber won't get suspended because he mostly whiffed on his suckerpunch to the back of the head of a player, and didn't ram his face into the turnbuckle that hard? It means the league is content to wait until there's a sever injury to suspend things like this, which doesn't make a lot of sense to me if you're trying to protect players' brains. -

I'm rooting for the Kings because they're my 2nd favorite team after Detroit. And I've developed a strong dislike for the Nucks. I don't know what the Canucks should do with Luongo. He's made huge saves this game, but also let in a terrible goal to start things off. I don't really know who would take him given the length of his contract. He's a good goaltender but not worthy of that contract. -

It would have been an unbelievably weak boarding call, even for this game. Z comes up behind Weber and rolls off the hit. That kind of thing happens every game. Weber's reaction was ridiculously disproportionate to Zetterberg's hit, especially considering he just won the game. -

Because a player might be reading the message board and decide to go out and do it? Personally I think it's a little ridiculous for people to be calling for other players to injure one another. In the heat of the moment as upset fans I think we forget they're just guys playing a game, not the devil. But it's not technically against forum rules so there's no reason to suspend posters for it. It was a tough pass. Catching it and converting on a pass like that is what separates a true goal scorer with a 2nd and 3rd liner like Cleary. -

Kings score on the 5 minute pp. up 2-1 They're getting lots of great chances this game. I have hope for the Kings if they keep playing like this. Other than that the game has been a mess because of the officiating. -

Wings suffered a tough loss and then had one of their star players get his head slammed into the glass. I'm not sure why you're expecting people to be calm and rational about it. -

ok, there I disagree. That first punch didn't connect thankfully, but it was a Bertuzzi swing to the back of Z's head. Luckily he mostly whiffed and caught his shoulder. I don't know where you draw the line as to what's an attempt to egregiously injure when you're throwing a punch at the back of a guys head and then trying to ram it into the glass. -

That's just plain wrong. I'm a fan of Smith and wished he got more playing time, but he's done little to show he's better than Ericsson out there on a nightly basis. I think he'll leapfrog ahead of him in the pairings eventually as an offensive defenseman. But he's not there yet E was solid tonight. Quincey was ok. Stuart and Kronwall were the shakiest pairing by far. Stuart losing a puck battle behind his net. Kronwall not picking up his man in the slot. -

That I can agree with. It was an unbelievably stupid play by Weber at the end of a big win for his team. -

So he wanted to slam his face into the glass, but not do it too hard? That's kind of a nonsensical position. -

so your position is that while pushing Zetterberg's face into the glass, Weber thought about how the league is cracking down on headshots these days and so he decided to let up? -

From the Forum Rules Drunken rants that are just a string of profanity and insults will be deleted. As will personal attacks and all the other stuff pretty clearly spelled out in the forum rules. Thanks. -

Stuart was the one who lost the puck battle behind the net. I'm wondering who should've picked up the guy in the slot. -
