That's more how I see it. A charge for sure, and that should get him at least a game. But he got a 5 minute major (which I don't think was warranted) and an ejection. Kopecky maybe missed a shift or two. Stupid play by Q, but I wouldn't say malicious. The reason it was an elbow was because Quincey left his feet and Kopecky did what he usually does, skates with his head down unaware of an impending hit.

It was barely a crosscheck. more of a shove. I don't fault Crosby for falling down as he probably wasn't expecting it. Though it's telling that his first reaction is to look at the ref with a shocked look on his face instead of turning to look at the guy who shoved him.

Let's keep this a discussion about the game instead of another discussion about who negged who and why. I don't even know why the crap people care so much. Make mostly thoughtful posts and you'll end up on the positive side, even if a few people neg you for no reason.

Honestly Sammy used to drive me nuts while he was here because of his shot selection. But he scored big goals and was a bargain for the Wings.
-
Probably. But with the 5 minute major and getting tossed for the game, I don't think he should get more than a game. He clearly left his feet, but the elbow was because Kopecky had his head down.

I should re-watch this game when I'm having trouble sleeping.
-
I'd love for someone to put Kopecky through the glass.
-
Even Mickey is getting annoyed with the Wings losing puck battles in the corner.
-
Wings need a set play with Dats using that move.

and Zetterberg. He's looked determined to win this game by himself if he has to.
-
Q left his feet. A definite charge. But the 5 minute elbowing call and game misconduct is ridiculous.
-
No, but he's playing like he cares. That's better than much of the team.
-
Just resting him for the postseason. Lids, Ericsson, Quincey and Kindl all missed games recently and could use the minutes more.

After watching the Flyers Pens game, it's such a dramatic difference on the lack of players going to the net. Those two teams crash it constantly. The Wings act like the goalie has the ebola virus.
-
Didn't Wings fans boo Fedorov when he went to Anaheim? Jagr played for the Pens for a decade in his prime. Then when he decides to return to the NHL he goes to their arch rival. I think fans boo former players too much, but this one I understand.

That's awesome. It almost makes me like Hartnell a little. What a fun game to watch. The impressive thing is how much both teams go hard to the net. It makes for great hockey. Malkin is such a dirty player though. cheapshots all game that he gets away with. These are gonna be fun games to watch.

It can't all be chalked up to injuries. This is a team who looks like like they can beat anyone one night, then gets blown out by the Isles or the Habs the next night. They dominate at home, then lose on the road. The best the PP has achieved has been middle of the pack. That's not a great PP. You can explain away part of the recent losing streak because of injuries, but it's been happening all season long. And not because of injuries. All teams get injuries.

The way the Wings are playing, you could say the same thing about them. This is the most wildly inconsistent Wings team I've seen in a while.
-
The Wings are 21st in PP goals and 22nd in the league on the PK. Yet they still manage to be 5th overall in Goals per Game and 7th overall in Goals Against. Add to that to their home and away record, and everything about this team is a split personality. For a team this good to have such a crappy PP and PK seems like a lack of discipline, commitment to the system, and willingness to compete and sacrifice. I guess we'll see if they find that switch come playoff time.

Exactly. It is a much rehashed topic, but if people don't like it, then they shouldn't post in it and they can watch it disappear down the list of threads on the page. And honestly if the Wings were a team that played a chippy game like Boston or fought as much as the Rangers, I highly doubt there would be threads about the Wings shouldn't goon it up as much. People love the Wings, so they love the current incarnation, which is one that isn't very physical and doesn't fight much. But if they were a team that beat the snot out of other players, I don't think people here would be clucking their tongues in disapproval. Overall I wouldn't say they're a soft team, but there's definitely guys who play soft for their size, and the Wings could definitely use their physical play. (I'm looking at you Franzen, Kindl, and Bertuzzi)

He very well may be. But right now with only 30 games started in the same season, 65 games in his entire NHL career, and all behind a very good Vancouver team, it's hard to tell for sure. Meanwhile in Howard you have someone much more proven. And at 27 Jimmy is only a year older than Schneider. It's not like Schneider is some kid.
-
I predict a loser point will be involved, allowing them both to hold/gain ground.
-
Honestly I couldn't tell if that was the case, even after watching the replay. Perry had a wide open net. Did Boyle deflect it? The right call was probably to give Boyle 2 minutes for delay of game. But like I said there was something like 7 seconds left. With the faceoff deep in the Sharks end, there's really no way they would've scored to tie the game.
-
As a Kings fan, it puts me in the unfortunate position of rooting for the Canucks (to beat the Avs). :puke:
-
Definitely weird. Though I don't feel bad for San Jose for a crap goal call. But yes, a surprising call. Though with 7 seconds left it was mostly academic. And if Getzlaf hadn't gotten cute with his chance he could've scored on the empty net.
