With Hudler playing well, he's the scapegoat this season. At least people have stopped trying to argue that Kindl is clearly better than Ericsson but for some odd reason Holland Babcock keep playing E over him in the lineup. It's grass is always greener. Hopefully people won't turn on Smith. The kid's got the potential to be a very good dman for Detroit, but he takes a fair amount of risks. There's going to be growing pains as he adapts to the game at this speed.

I don't know that he's on a downswing. It's so hard to tell with Franzen. I wish I could still find the quote where he basically says he gets bored in the regular season. It's certainly not that he's awful, it's just that he could be so much better if he had the compete level of someone like Darren Helm. Goal scorers are often streaky, but he can be amazingly invisible for a 6'3" 225 lbs guy. What frustrates me about him is not that he's not scoring. It happens. But sometimes he looks like he doesn't want to play.

I know he didn't, but I wish Chara would've gotten a 2, 5 and 10 minute misconduct for instigating after a clean, hard hit.
-
You may not miss him, but the Wings will. Unless Kindl or Commie make a marked improvement in his absence, the Wings just got worse defensively. It seems like you'd want the best lineup on the ice. Ericsson also was 4th on the team in PK minutes (tied with Lids). In his absence that means those pk minutes will be picked up by Lidstrom, Stuart, Kronwall, and now Quincey. Like I said, picking up Quincey now becomes a good move as he can pick up some of those minutes without them having to go to Commie and Kindl.

Wow. Not at all bummed that a Red Wings player just fractured his wrist and will be out of the lineup for at least a month? I'd remember this post of yours when you think of lecturing someone on not supporting the Wings. The Wings just got worse defensively. Picking up Quincey definitely is a good move now.
-
Wow. That was Kronwall like. Boychuk's gotta get his head up there. He's gonna get his brain scrambled one of these times.
-
I think the fans would riot if LA dealt Brown. He picked up an assist for 4 points so far (near the end of the 2nd period)
-
Brown with the natural hat trick against the Hawks tonight.
-
You don't want to let Quincey play more than a game and a half before you evaluate bringing him back?
-
I'm not sure by who. Mule is definitely not a powerforward.

I still don't get why people hated Sammy so much when he was here. Yeah he was a logo hunter and shinguard assassin, but like I said, for the money he was a steal. 19 goals 40 points in 09 11 goals 40 points in 08 14 goals 34 points in 07 23 goals 45 points in 06 His contract was $1.2 million for all those seasons except 06, when it was $537,000.

Given that Ott is a douchebag, the Flyers and Canucks seem like the best fit. -
Vancouver would have to clear a helluva lot more cap space than the Wings to compete for big names like that, wouldn't they? On capgeek they list Vancouver being able to take on the full season cap hit of $4.6 mill, versus the Wings $21.8 mill.
-
I'm guessing they mean off the ice. Guys like Doan and Iginla don't exactly play a nice game on the ice.
-
Agreed. I dont' know who the Wings would give up that LA would want. The Kings desperately need goal scoring.
-
No, yours was the terrible post. Stay on topic please.

Yeah don't get me wrong, I'd love to have Brown on the Wings. The only thing I don't like about the game is he dives from time to time. -
It seems like it would be unlikely he was ever on it, other than for part of a deal for someone like Nash. Unless it's someone of that caliber I dont' know why they'd trade Brown.

I don't know why the Kings would move Brown unless he was packaged for an elite scorer. They can't score goals, and Brown is second on the team with 15 (to Kopitar's 17). They already traded away their leading goal scoring D man. -
I thought it was only with the fans, but it's funny that the fascination on little things like that are important enough to a player to do that for his shootout celebration. I guess they're trying to rack up whatever little achievements they can after crapping the bed during their chance at the big one.

I dont' know why they'd be looking for a young D-man. If anything they could use some more experience on the blueline. They got rid of JJ but have this kid Voynov, Doughty and Martinez are young. And Greene and Drewisky are only in their late 20s. Like a lot of teams, they need a true goal scorer. -
Burrows is a finger-biting douchebag. Would you really expect anything less of him? There's no great mystery as to why Vancouver and their fans get so much grief. They earn it.
-
anecdotal? What, you expected a scientific study on how often they flop and embellish? The idea that the Canucks are divers comes from me having eyes. The Sharks Nucks conference finals was a disgrace. There's plenty of evidence of embarrassing dives by several players on Vancouver, including the captain. It's not some myth being perpetrated here.

That's overstating it just a bit. Honestly I'm not much of a fan, but I get what people see in him. He's big, can throw huge hits, great puck mover and offensively talented (he was often in the shootout for the Kings). But his decisionmaking has always been suspect. And has not improved. He'll step up to make a big hit at the worst possible time, leading to a breakaway or two on one. -
I wasn't able to watch the game. How'd Quincey do? (Saw that he scored a goal, but wondered beyond the highlights)
