Having a list of 5 teams you're willing to be traded to as one of the stars of the franchise is pretty much a NMC. My main point was never say never. Selanne has never said anything nearly as dramatic as Cheli did about the Wings, and the rivalry isn't nearly as heated. Plus his comments lately have been pretty measured. Like I said, it seems like an extreme longshot, but who knows. And this is one of the cases where offering Kindl and Hudler makes some sense. They'd pick up some of the goalscoring winger they'd lose in Teemu, and I'm pretty sure the Ducks are still in need of help on their blueline.

Agreed. I'm not totally positive but I thought Chelios requested (some say demanded) the trade once it became clear to him that Wirtz was intent on running the franchise into the ground. I don't really get the negging either. Don't like it? don't read his threads.
-
Even if he didn't have a NMC, I couldn't see the Ducks trading him somewhere he didn't want to go. The only way he's going to detroit or anywhere else is because he wants to.
-
He's made comments about the reffing when the Wings play at home. But Chelios also went on record saying he'd never play for the Wings. Selanne would be a great pickup at the deadline, but seems like a tremendous longshot.

Don't forget this one. Though it makes me laugh, I can't believe he got away with it literally right in front of the ref. The ref grabs his glove and takes it out of Sedin's face.

Z deserves some heat for his performance, but while Mule's cap hit is $4 mill (he's getting paid 5.25 million this season), he is also signed through 2020. Given that he's 32 now, that's also pretty much a lifetime contract. I think the reason Franzen gets more heat is that when he's not scoring, he can be completely invisible. Zetterberg has had games where he looked great and was flying out there, it just didn't show up on the score sheet.

You can be pretty certain that he's probably averaged at least one crosscheck per game in his career too, so imagine over a thousand crosschecks to your back. The guy's a warrior. The Wings have scored a lot of goals because of his presence in front of the net, even if he doesn't end up with an assist. There isn't a stat column for screening goalie with your ass.

Actually Id' say Perry has the better track record of performance. Mule has two ridiculously explosive goal scoring years in the postseason and another overall good performance. Perry has a 98 point season with 50 goals, two 70+ point seasons. Mule's regular season high is 34 goals and 59 points (which he'll likely break this season). Then factor in that Perry is on a crappy Ducks team the last couple seasons. The main reason they made the playoffs was his second half of the year. I hate Perry when the Wings play against him, but if you're talking about a one for one swap, I'd take him over Mule. The Wings are better and harder to play against with him, and he's a RH shot to boot. But you could say the same about Perry. He's a much better player now than he was as a 22 year old.

Not if you visit hfboards. People there will grudgingly put Lids as #5, at best, and always behind Bourque. It's kind of comical.

He tends to have big games against Detroit, but I've heard Ducks fans criticize him for several seasons now about not giving a solid effort on a nightly basis. Good question. It sounded like Kindl had a good game last game (I didn't see it), but the Wings could definitely use some increased toughness against a team like the Ducks.
-
Yup. Lids got his bell rung, it looked like from Laperriere catching him in the face with his glove and possibly butt end. I'm pretty sure Lidstrom injured his knee as he fell to the ice.

5th in TOI for forwards with over 16 minutes a game. Plays on the PK and the PP and isn't afraid to go anywhere on the ice. 6th on the team with 11 goals. 8th on the team with 27 points and is a +12. He was on pace for about his usual 40 points. People may be unhappy with his play, but anytime you lose a guy who plays 16 minutes a night in all situations and get you 40 points, it's a significant loss. Hopefully he gets the knee drained and comes back healthy.
-
I'm guessing it's partly that, but I think it's also that Lidstrom constantly has his head up, so he's really hard to get a good hit on. It's seriously ridiculous how little he looks down at the puck. Next game just watch Lids. He's almost never looking down, whether he's skating up ice with the puck, making a pass, or taking a shot. I'm not sure he even knows what his skates look like.

The thread is about the Wings fighting more, not just about Commie. There wasn't a thread about Kindl's crappy games where he played himself out of the lineup, there probably isn't going to be one for him playing well for two games.

So the Wings were robbed because they needed one of the Pens best players to be suspended for them to win? Or because they had to play the series early just like the Pens did? I think it was game 1 in 09 Osgood had a puck sitting on his back that was covered in the crease by zetterberg and the Wings got away with it. If the Pens score on the penalty shot they should've been awarded, they're back in that game. Maybe they take game 1 and the series goes a whole different way. Who knows though because that's the breaks. It's not fair to cherrypick the few breaks the Pens got, as if those were the only significant tipping points in the series. There's breaks and bounces in all series. Short of what happened to Buffalo in 99, no call really determines a series. When the Wings won the Cup in 08 they were fortunate enough to stay healthy throughout the playoffs. I think that's the year they played the Avs who were decimated by injuries. That's just how the game goes. It was a heartbreaking loss for sure. But the Wings weren't robbed. They got beat by a healthier younger team who had learned from losing in the Finals the year before.
-
He's not trolling in this case. It's a valid if unpopular opinion that I think happens to be right.
-
The Wings didn't own that series. they started strong and ran out of gas, and hence lost the series. They weren't cheated, they just lost in heartbreaking fashion. Sorry guys, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with stinky fish... As infuriating as it would be at the time, the Pens would be a great rematch. Giving the Wings to chance to break the tie.
-
The power play has been bad lately but the Wings are still middle of the pack. They're 25th in PK though. All of the options in the poll are legitimate factors, but a PK that bad will kill them in the playoffs.
-
The really sad part is that number includes the players.

Isn't that quote from a blog that's somehow associated with the paper's website? It doesn't look like it was an actual article.

So anyone who disagrees with you is a goon fan? And you speak for the people now and know what we want?
-
please let that be after the period ended damn. nope.
-
how the hell did that go in the net??
-
My main point was that the league in both cases is trying to find the line and it takes some time to do that.
-
The thing is that if you stop watching in the first period, then you would've missed all the games they won in spite of not scoring on a 5 on 3.
