Well put. Honestly #2 would likely be the best situation for the Wings in the long run, if not for Stuart, as you're right they'd likely get more in return. Unless he's part of a package deal for Ryan. But like you said, because people know he's a UFA who wants to play in Southern California, the Wings are not in a strong bargaining position. If they go with #3 though, I hope they do make some big deadline move to take a serious run at the Cup before they lose Stuart and probably Lidstrom next season.

Wow. The rumor is that it's because he spit on his coach. Even if it's not true, a healthy scratch in the AHL is not a good sign.

I don't think anyone is really complaining. But Datsyuk generally seems softspoken and doesn't speak English very well. Not that Zetterberg relishes the spotlight, but I think he's more comfortable with it. I could understand wanting Z to talk to refs over Dats, and lead press conferences. Saying Z should be captain over him isn't a slight to Datsyuk. The star player on the team doesn't always have to be the one wearing the C. I'd rather someone else have that job and let Pavel keep doing his thing.

Hopefully this is just Holland playing it close to his vest. http://espn.go.com/blog/nhl/post/_/id/13788/rumblings-montreal-moves-cammalleri-bs-devils-wild-have-tough-decisions

Anything other than calling it the Forsberg move would be an improvement. But Kopitar has done it a few times in the shootout too.
-
I think it's safe to say Babcock would too. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2012/01/red_wings_henrik_zetterberg_st.html

Salo is definitely the biggest exception to the Canucks team's antics, and why I didn't bold his part about all Nucks being assholes.

I regret that I have but one +1 to give for this post.

I think the key is for the energy guys to really start hitting and punishing the other team and not be afraid to back it up by fighting. But staged fights are so lame in general it's hard to believe they'd do much to inspire a team. Unless it's in retribution for something.

It's not the end of the world but games like this are frustrating. It's a tight playoff race in the West. To be at or near the top you've got to beat the teams you're supposed to beat and take those points.

Honestly I can understand him saying something like that when it's in response to the veiled threats by a whiny ass coach like Vigneault. Especially considering the whiny divers the Nucks have on their team. Marchand should care about his reputation with his coach and teammates, and to a certain extent the refs. A more appropriate response would've been that he could care less what the Canucks coach thinks of them. And if Tortorella gets a 30k fine for ripping on the refs, in the post-Bertuzzi incident NHL, Vigneault should be fined for his comments about Marchand.

I finally got a chance to check the score. 5-1? WTF?! I guess it's good I wasn't able to watch this crapfest.

The Official NHL Suspension Thread
haroldsnepsts replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
Wow was I wrong about the Marchand suspension. -
I don't know that I'd want him on the Wings, but I did laugh when he did this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEh53OWz0jU C'mon Daniel, even Franzen has a point where he'll pop a guy for screwing with him. You're gonna just take jabs from the little weasel?
-
I think it's too many games. But with Salo being concussed and the player involved being Marchand, who's been suspended for elbowing and fined for slew-footing, 5 games isn't going to keep me up at night.
-
No kidding. It's a tiny detail but a strange word choice. When you're 38 years old, have played in the NHL for as long as Homer has especially given the beating he takes in front of the net every game, it's called retiring.
-
Agreed. the 5 and game he got was enough and throw a fine on it for good measure. Because it's Marchand and Salo got hurt though, I'm guessing he'll get a couple games. I don't think he was running at Salo's knees, but he bailed out of being hit and got way too low for it to be a good hip check. Nucks fans were bitching about him not even trying to play the puck, but Salo wasn't either.

1/8 GDT : Red Wings 3 at Blackhawks 2 (OT)

He also knocked a guy in the face and didn't get called for it, which is a huge plus in my book. He needs to play chippy like that and try to play right on the line. -

And because everyone here thinks he's awful, that play happened in part because Ericsson went to the net, screened Crawford, and got a decent backhand off, which rebounded to Dats. -

Agreed. He started awful but has looked very good since then. -

They need to take away one of Hudler's hookers every time he passes when he should shoot. -

Franzen is so soft in his own end when fighting for the puck. -

good question. he said Homer covered it. Except the puck was loose in the crease when he blew the whistle. -
