Well, you said he gets too much love from fans. Selanne is a great player. But I totally agree he's become a big whiner. It's like he's gotten cranky in his old age or something. And I wouldn't look for any logic or reason on why people hate Crosby. It's gone to an irrational level for most people.

I like how the Ducks announcers say "Hooo-dler." They're not bad, actually. They're kinda homers like all crews are, but far from the worst. The Dallas-Colorado game last night the announcers were complaining about a high sticking call, apparently not understanding that it's not high-sticking when it's a follow through from shooting the puck. They would not let it go.

dude.

He's far from a *****, though he has become a big whiner. As for the love from fans, not too many players have scored 642 goals. Or put up 80 points as a 40 year old. Or scored 76 goals in a season, let alone as a rookie. Selanne's a stud in terms of his play. He just needs to keep his whiny yap shut.
-
I think he got a ten minute misconduct. Edit: oh s***, you're right! Game misconduct. Ha! I wonder what he said??
-
Lids! Keep em coming boys. Man Lidstrom gets the shot off fast. I seriously don't think he ever looks down at the puck. It's like he just always knows where it is.
-
I'm a Selanne fan, but he has turned into a whiny ***** these last few seasons.
-
Mule had a great pass on the goal by Zetterberg, but he seems to be in one of those phases where he doesn't want to go to the net himself and shoot the puck.
-
Damn. I would've been great to see Cleary get that one. Homer has been great tonight. Say what you will about him, but the guy works hard and has been very effective at keeping the puck in the offensive zone. That was a pretty lame move. Pull up to the sideboards and throw a wrister at the net, hoping Flip makes some great re-direction? Go to the net Mule!
-
That's what I don't get. When is it a no-goal AND a penalty? There's zero consistency with what constitutes goaltender interference and whether or not it's a penalty.
-
Agreed. He hasn't looked bad, but so far this season he's just looked... mortal.
-
goaltender interference on Perry. Hee hee. couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. The hockey gods are definitely with the Wings so far this game.
-
With Cleary and Homer out on the ice together, they won't even need to Zamboni the ice between periods.
-
Hiller has a legitimate complaint on that last goal, but hell I'll take it. Hopefully the Wings will score 7 and it won't matter.
-
I step away for two seconds and Lids scores?! His slapper is a thing of beauty. Enjoy it while we can. *sniff* what the hell was the call on Mule? The Ducks announcers don't even know.
-
Great shift by Homer. Digging the puck out of corners and along the board, screening (of course) and a quality scoring chance. Z! Now we're talking. Nice feed from Mule.

Just got home to watch the game. Sounds like things are going well?

He apparently has some ailment where he can't keep both hands on his stick and uses his free hand to take penalties. Honestly as craptacular as his play has been, he's hardly alone and it would've been good to have his size against the Ducks today. +1 for using "truculence." Go Wings! Go to the f-ing net!!

"I’m not looking to work the phones for trades at this time," Holland said. "The solutions are in the locker room." http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2011/11/red_wings_ken_holland_solution.html Not really surprising, in spite of the slump. It's way too early. The ideal is still to be in the playoff hunt and make a big move much closer to the deadline. Unless making the playoffs starts to look in question, I don't see him making an early move. And since this thread, like many others, has become about Hudler: Love him or hate him, he's pretty friggin funny.

Good god. I had forgotten it was that bad. How did they lose only 7? And I agree, even during that streak, because of the injuries they were the scrappy underdogs. It was one of those stretches where it felt like the Grand Rapids team was taking on the NHL.
-
I guess I disagree fundamentally as a fan. We definitely have the ability watch and support, which I do. But because I love hockey and the Wings, I also want to discuss what is going on, speculate on what the problems might be, potential changes that can help (even though we can't force the Wings to implement them), and sometimes just vent. Obviously we can't play the games for them, but there's an element to fandom that is essentially hyperanalyzing all this stuff.
-
Beyond just the power play, Rafalski was probably was probably the largest factor in the Wings puck moving defense, with Lids a close second. He may have made the occasional terrible turnover trying a stretch pass up the middle, but more often than not he was successful and kept the forecheckers backed off because the Wings could get behind them with one pass.

Luckily it is a long season and there's plenty of games left. It is a little scary because the playoff race is so tight, thanks in part to the loser point. Last season Vancouver was well out front with 117 points (enjoy that Presidents trophy guys! hee hee), but the 2nd place team and the 10th place team were only separated by 11 points. Even worse, the 4th place team and the 9th place team were only separated by 4 points. Lose a couple games and you can go from 4th place in the Western Conference to missing the playoffs. And I'm pretty sure that losing streak from the Cup year was when a significant number of players were injured. Lidstrom, Kronwall, Cleary. Like I said, there's a lot of games left to play, but it's not just the losing, it's that they've looked so bad so much of the time.

yeah. I was still ticked about the loss and had had a few drinks. getting mindfly back is a horrible idea. he's definitely not making friends over at hfboards... In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[4] Seems spot on to me. But now we should probably get back on topic...

Trollllll. Can we trade Crymson and a bag of pucks to get mindfly back? He at least talked hockey most of the time, even it was all negative.
