Dats misses a breakaway. Just looks a little off tonight. I'd also like to point out that breakaway was a result of Ericsson's standing guys up at center ice. Nice to see him cause a breakaway our way.
-
Holy turnover. Kronner with a backhand pass up the middle from behind his own net. Like Mick pointed out, the Wild are already playing the 1-2-2, and there's 7 minutes left in the 2nd period. Plus they've iced the puck how many times now? Minnesota Wild =

Wow. White got crunched from behind. At first it was just capitalizing on a couple mistakes, but the Wings are looking out of sorts defensively since then. At the very least the 4th line needs to start hitting everything that moves.
-
Jebuz Kronner, keep that elbow down. Turnover Mule. wtf. Wings looking disorganized defensively. running around.
-
Where is the backchecking? The Wild had the Wings outnumbered there and it wasn't until the whistle that the forwards made it back.
-
That quick pass by Ericsson is an example of why the Wings want him around. He can be a good puck moving defenseman when he's doesn't have the brainfarts. Nice save by Jimmy.
-
He still stood there over the puck not playing it and gave it up to the Wild.
-
Why wasn't Dats touching the puck. It's not like it was going to be whistled for a high stick or anything, was it?
-
Another bad play on the puck by Dats leads to a goal. wow. what's going on?
-
poop. Datsyuk loses it in the corner, a seeing eye pass out to the point. Then looked like Howard never saw the shot. Do they ever track stats on giving up goals at the end of periods? I'd be curious to see where the Red Wings stood.
-
Wow Flip. Keep that up!
-
The PP will start clicking once we get Rafalski out there. oh. crap.
-
Looked like he really just popped his stick and Kronner got crossed up and fell down. Kinda weak call.
-
That's what I was wondering. He isn't booed across the league really.
-
I love that video. Roenick is/was a loudmouth, but he was great for the game. He's a perfect example of how a guy can have personality without being Sean Avery.

I'm guessing your Lilja cheerleading is done mostly tongue-in-cheek, but if this is a memorable Wings fight, it only shows the sad state of affairs for the Red Wings when it comes to fighting. That fight was pretty much a draw and Lilja utilizes his go-to move, which is to wrestle the guy to the ice before he got his ass kicked. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7lOida9zcA&feature=player_embedded#!

I'm mostly with you in your assessment of Kurri (it's not like they could've plugged anyone in with Gretzky and they would've put up those point totals) but you always seem to have something in your posts that makes me laugh. Hull had "a couple good seasons without Oates?" What exactly constitutes a good season to you? Sure he may not have put up 131 points like in '91, but he put up great point totals more than a few times in his career. As much as Oates was a huge help, you don't score 741 goals in the NHL from a few good seasons.

It's the curse of the Wang. Seriously, I feel bad for the guy. He could be a good goaltender if he could ever stay healthy. Gee, I wonder why the Islanders wanted Nabby?

I don't think it has anything to do with being politically correct. It's not like some group is protesting outside NHL headquarters with signs "what about the players' brains??!" We know a lot more about concussions than we ever have before, and beyond that there's been a rash of them in the league, especially since the lockout. While the policy may not be dialed in, I think the league is genuinely trying to protect its players and figure out what's going on and how they can reduce brain damage while leaving the game intact. And from a purely business perspective, they're paying these guys to play, so they also have a financial interest in protecting them. Sidney Crosby is making a lot of money for skating no-contact drills right now. Add to that instances like in the NFL where dozens of former players are suing the league for not protecting them better from concussions during their career. A younger player may think "I want to get back out on the ice" instead of sitting in the quiet room. But a retired player with chronic headaches, depression, and memory loss may think "why didn't the league who made so much money off of me do a better job protecting me?"

If Lapierre had any dignity, he would've lost some of it in that fight.
-
Does Beagle even fight? What was he thinking??
-
Nice. Like to see that from Kindl. It'd be great to have a bottom pairing with size and some nastiness.
-
Nice! Now all he needs is an assist!

I'm pretty sure the Canucks couldn't fit Abby in under the cap.

Report: Pre-season Fighting Lowest in More Than a Decade
haroldsnepsts replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
That was one of his three career goals (and a total of 16 points) in 277 NHL games. I looked up his stats on TSN. The last entry under Transactions/Injuries/Suspensions is "deceased." Friggin sad.
