My favorite thing about Tatar: the guy is not afraid to shoot the puck.
-
Smith has the wheels going tonight. It's a little scary sometimes but the Wings need their Dmen moving up into the play.
-
Nyquist had Rask waaaay out of the net and almost put it in off Abby there. dangit.
-
Smith steps up on Marchand but then starts to bail right as they make contact. ends up on his butt.
-
Sheahan's shot off the crossbar and into the netting over the glass. play should've been stopped. Nice effort by Smith leading to the Sheahan chance.
-
Nice physical play by E there behind his own net. I can live with the defensive lapses a little easier if he's beating the crap out of guys around the net.
-
How did Sheahan not score??? argh.
-
Yeah, about 1 out of 20 shifts, it looks like he is.

NJ fires DeBoer. Scott Stevens & Adam Oates named coaches
haroldsnepsts replied to Jersey Wing's topic in General
You had to know Lou would put himself behind the bench, but with Oates and Stevens as coaches too? This should be interesting. http://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/666929 -
Ansar Khan @AnsarKhanMLive 23m 23 minutes ago Weiss said he's been cleared and is ready to play tonight. Kronwall feels good but said he needs to be cleared by the doctor tonight. Ansar Khan @AnsarKhanMLive 1h1 hour ago Lines: Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Abdelkader Tatar-Sheahan-Weiss Franzen-Helm-Nyquist Miller-Glendening-Jurco Looks like Andersson, Cleary scratched ***UPDATED based on Khan's mlive article*** On Defense: Kronwall-Ericsson Quincey-DeKeyser Smith-Kindl Lashoff scratched. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2014/12/jimmy_howard_back_in_goal_as_d.html#incart_river What exactly does Kindl have to do to lose his spot in the lineup? He almost singlehandedly lost the game for the Wings last time he played.

Don't know if anyone is watching this later but here's the US-Finland result.

I agree about the responsibility but still don't understand how Smith is somehow worse than Kindl in that regard. This last game we saw Kindl move in from the point and rocket a slapshot into traffic that was blocked and led to a 2 on 0 breakaway that resulted in a goal. As the lone man back I have no idea what he was thinking. If you're going to move that deep into the zone you can't take a huge windup on a team that's been tremendous at blocking shots all game long.
-
Plus Eriksson not performing the way they had hoped when they traded Seguin for him.
-
I'm not sure if you caught the game last night, but after how he performed then, I'd be surprised to see Kindl in the lineup anytime soon. Babcock had him glued to the bench other than the PP, until Kronwall got hurt. Maybe now Smith will see more PP time. I do think Lashoff is better defensively. He's more physical around his own net and plays simple. He's not afraid to get hit to make a play. Kindl is by far a more skilled player, but the end result isn't better.
-
I'm definitely confused by the reluctance to use Smith on the power play and putting Kindl in as a "better" option. Kindl is generally good at getting a shot through but as we saw last night, him being the lone man on the blue line in their PP formation is a scary thing. Could Smith really be worse? I also don't understand why Babs keeps rotating Kindl into the lineup. How many times is he going to have to bench him during a game before he stops giving him yet another shot?

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Z having to put his sweater back on to take a lap for star of the game.
-
Since we're up by 3 and Kindl is useless, now seems like a good time for him to crosscheck whoever ran him in the teeth.
-
Wow. What a slap pass by Smith to Tater Tots.
-
Z and Dats with the give and go and give and go and give... Helm gets mugged twice. They finally call the second one.
