    Question about Carcillo

The answer is yes, he's a douchebag. Oh, was that not the question?

SCF: Boston Bruins vs. Vancouver Canucks

Honestly I don't care much who wins. Boston maybe? I'll probably watch the first couple games and hope that the tone is set from the Eastern conference finals. If Vancouver brings the dive-fest they had with San Jose into the finals, I don't think I can stomach it. Especially if the refs follow suit and call the games as horribly as they did in the WCF.

    Tampa Bay vs. Boston

I was rooting for Tampa, but wow, what a series. That's the way hockey should be. This series had wide open games with lots of scoring, and tight defensive wars like tonight. It's almost too bad this wasn't the Cup finals.

    Ryane Clowe: Kronwalled After All!

Honestly though he could beat the snot out of anyone on the Wings. I don't know about the Franzen+Kindl part, but I'd certainly like to have Clowe on the Wings. 20 goals a season. 50-60 points. Hard hitter, good fighter, good in the playoffs. HIs health is about the only question mark with the way he plays the game.

    Kris Draper

Not anyone else, but definitely by someone else. It's not that Draper doesn't have anything to offer. He still can play in this league, but as I said earlier I think it's in the best interest of the Wings to fill that spot with someone younger. Drapes had a good season, but part of that was probably because he only played half a season due to his groin injury. And that's an injury that's kept him out of games for the last 3 seasons. Yes he can rehab it this offseason, but i'm guessing that's what he did last offseason too. He certainly wasn't bad in the playoffs, but if his contributions were that valuable, he likely would've been in the lineup every game. One of the arguments here against an enforcer is that they only play half the games in a season, and not in the playoffs. It's a good point, and one that applies to Draper as well.

    Role Players

Just so I've got this straight. You wouldn't want him on the Wings because he scored two clutch goals in game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals? I understand to a certain degree, but remember who are coach is. Ultimately that worked out pretty well for us.

    Ryane Clowe: Kronwalled After All!

Agreed. It's like pulling out a player's mouthguard and throwing it to the ice. Classless. The main thing I don't like about Kesler is the diving. Otherwise the guy is a beast.

Why no team is likely to offer sheet Doughty, Weber, or Parise

He actually provided insight on something a lot of people probably didn't know regarding the CBA, RFA's and arbitration. I sure didn't. So he shared some actual hockey knowledge. And that somehow offended you?

    Kris Draper

It's not surprising Draper wants to come back. He's a competitor. That being said, even for a cheaper contract, I'd rather the Wings try to fill his spot with someone who has equal speed and grinding, but also is more likely to stay healthy and has the potential to be part of the team's future. Honestly though I have a feeling Holland will sign him to a one-year deal

    Changes in the offseason

I wouldn't mind O'Donnell on the Wings if the Flyers end up not re-signing him. He's getting long in the tooth but still seems like a good 5/6th Dman. He had a great impact on Doughty as his partner in LA. Maybe he could help out with Kindl or Ericsson on the bottom pair. And I still can't believe the Flyers signed Pronger for that long, especially considering he was 35 when they made the deal. I just don't know if he's got 6 more years of hockey left in him. Enjoy that cap hit!

    (1) Vancouver Canucks vs. (2) San Jose Sharks

Honestly I'd say Heatley first if they can get anyone to take on that contract. Then probably Marleau, then Thornton. Joe seems to have grown a pair this season (minus the diving) and could be great if the chemistry of the team changed around him. You just shouldn't spend that much money on three guys who are "streaky" in the playoffs. I think they've also made a mistake committing themselves for a long time to a goalie who has the same problem. He was awful against the Kings, great against the Wings, and good against Vancouver. So maybe in 2015 the Sharks can do the serious retooling they need?

Brian Rafalski announces retirement after 11 NHL seasons

Definitely a class act. And a great story of a guy who took the long road to the NHL and had a tremendous career. His retirement speech is also a good reminder that, though it's hard to believe, there actually are things in life more important than hockey.

    (1) Vancouver Canucks vs. (2) San Jose Sharks

It has. And it's not just from "kids on internet forums." I've not been to a game in San Jose, but I have been around several sharks fans at Kings games. Maybe it's because they were the ones in enemy territory, but they were very friendly and took part in a good natured friendly rivalry. Because hockey isn't popular in southern california and there's thousands of people that grew up elsewhere, Kings games in LA can often seem like a home game for whoever they're playing that night. Canucks fans were by far the most disrespectful and obnoxious, even moreso than Flyers fans. And that's really saying something. Though honestly I think Flyers fans save their best stuff for home games.

    (1) Vancouver Canucks vs. (2) San Jose Sharks

Agreed. Over on hfboards the Sharks fans as a group are among the friendliest and most civil.

    (1) Vancouver Canucks vs. (2) San Jose Sharks

Agreed. One team of floppers gone. One to go. It'd be nice to see Tampa win, but honestly I'd be okay with Boston too. Vancouver will be tough to beat in the finals, but I'd love for their condescending, obnoxious, self-entitled fans to choke on it for another year. And this is from someone who was a big fan of Linden, Courtnall and Bure... Someone over on hfboards pointed out its this same day in 1994 the Canucks won the in double OT to go onto the Stanley Cup Finals. And lost in seven games to the Rangers. So maybe there's hope? I kind of can't believe I'm rooting for the Eastern Conference...

    (1) Vancouver Canucks vs. (2) San Jose Sharks

After dominating much of the game, the Sharks lose because of a blown icing call and that flukey goal. That's gotta hurt.

    (1) Vancouver Canucks vs. (2) San Jose Sharks

Fitting final goal for a joke of a series. It'll be interesting to see how the Cup finals go. Hopefully the better reffing and team out of the east will cut down on the flopping. The Sharks and Canucks seemed to bring it out it one another.

    (1) Vancouver Canucks vs. (2) San Jose Sharks

Wow. Kesler got his head up at the very last second. These teams can actually play some good hockey when the refs swallow their whistles and don't fall for all the dives. One of the Sedins stopped behind the net to take off his glove and check for a high stick to the face...

Brian Rafalski announces retirement after 11 NHL seasons

That trade I would be interested in. But the quoted part said Mike Green. looks like I hurt someone's feelings too. They game me a -1 for saying I didn't want Mike douchebag Green.

    (1) Vancouver Canucks vs. (2) San Jose Sharks

Nucks are lucky the linesman blew that icing call. San Jose has been in control in OT, but I have a feeling the Canucks are going to get one to end it.

wow. after that big no call against Vancouver, what a dive by D. Sedin.

Brian Rafalski announces retirement after 11 NHL seasons

With the Weber/Doughty thing, people are also overlooking how it's still generally considered an ******* move to go after RFA's like that, and I'm not sure that's how Holland wants to do business. Remember how big of a stink there is any time someone tries to sign another teams RFA? I'm not saying it wouldn't be worth it to get Weber, but it's one more reason to throw on the pile of why he's not coming to Detroit.

    Reeds v. Gallant: the rematch.

He only played a couple seasons, I think. I probably just have a strong association of him as a Wing from that time because it back was when I was going to every game, some practices and whatnot. So I saw him a lot.

    Jonathan Ericsson Appreciation Thread

For now he should try to be like the best version of Lilja, only with a much better first pass. Make the simple play, block shots, PK, play physical, and occasionally get in scraps where he hopefully doesn't get his ass handed to him.
