3/28 GDT: Blackhawks 3 at Red Wings 2 (OT)
haroldsnepsts replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Seriously? In addition to missing one of their best players, the Wings have little to play for, whereas the Hawks are fighting for their lives. Yet it still took the Hawks to OT and a PP goal from a weak call made at the end of regulation. I don't know what game you were watching, but the Hawks barely won against a team that needs to stay healthy more than they need points. And if saying the penalty on Z was legit, then so was the Hawk player interfering with Z minutes earlier (which wasn't called). Suuuure you're a Wings fan. Wonder where your IP address is from.... -

Yes, technically it was a penalty on Zetterberg. But it was a much softer call than the non-call when Z got interfered with. It's not that I expect the refs to be perfect, but something resembling consistency within a game would be nice. Consistency across games would be a miracle. -
Brittle ankles? Watch his right foot. Looks like he toe picks and his foot goes perpendicular to his leg and bends backwards. It's moving in a way ankles aren't supposed to move. Really sucks for LA. I was hoping they'd make some progress in the playoffs this year, but now they're going to have more trouble scoring than they already do.

f*** indeed. I saw it happen watching the game tonight. Kings lost their second leading scorer last week when Justin Williams went out with a dislocated shoulder. Now Kopi too. They're a strong defensive team with good goaltending but they've had problem scoring goals all season, and now they lose their top two scorers, and two-thirds of their top line. Seems like they'll make the playoffs, but after that, it doesn't look good.

I thought it said "Sweet Revenge." And I guess I'm one of those few who thinks Claude and McCarty's reconciliation has more to do with the money and media opportunities than anything real. The Draper incident was the worst, but Lemieux was a dirty player his whole career. And I also don't buy that he turtled because the first punch rang his bell.

Honestly I think last season was worse for him defensively than this one. He played more like himself in the second half of last season, but it was still a non-Nick like year to me. This season I think he's been better overall, though the Wings in general look more lost on defense. I'm a little surprised Babcock hasn't gone back to the old pairings to settle things down.

It's always fun to watch Toronto and Detroit play. If only to pretend Detroit's still in the east. To me Leafs-Wings is THE original six matchup. And slightly off topic, but I was reading some article about how the Wings brought up that kid to back up Howard (can't remember his name) and the article mentions how even when players are called up for one game, the Wings put the player's name on a nameplate on his locker (They unfortunately weren't able to with this kid for some reason). Even though it's a small thing, I think it's one of those little touches that make a big difference to players.

I just started watching it a few episodes ago. It covers several games at a time but is a great behind the scenes look at how a team operates. It's especially interesting since the Oilers are such a young team in rebuilding mode. Last episode was about the trade deadline moves. I had no idea Semenko was a scout for the Oilers. Anyway, thought it was interesting. They had to hurry to call Penner and tell him he was traded because it was being announced on TSN before they had even told him he was going to the Kings. Great show. It's honestly making me a bit of an Oilers fan. You can apparently also check out episodes on their website. http://oilers.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=65827

Agreed. The Wings had cleared the zone so there was no immediate scoring chance for the Preds, and with Eaves clearly injured, the refs likely would've (or should've anyway) blown the whistle.

Fischer absolutely. Lilja not so much. Weber was the one who scrambled Lilja's brain for a season, remember? I doubt Lilja would be up for round 2. I know Lilja got his game together here and became a favorite, but no thanks. Especially post-concussion Lilja. Much respect for him trying to learn to fight at the NHL level, but he was never very good at it. And he hasn't fought since the concussion. Last night he was a healthy scratch against the Kings, and was only in the lineup before that because for a while Carlyle was carrying 7 d-men. I know there's heavy nostalgia here for Lillypads, but it seems he peaked before the concussion. He has 1 goal and 6 assists and is a -13 for the Ducks in 51 games (he's been a healthy scratch for the others). I was hoping Salei would bring some of the edginess he's had in the past, but injury and age seemed to have dampened that. Still, he's better than Lilja at this point. Don't get me wrong, I wish someone would've laid a beatdown on Weber, Erat, Franson, but it wouldn't have been Lilja. (apologies in advance to edi. )

f*** the predators.

Great work by Helm drawing the penalty.
-
How many punches to the back of the head until its a penalty? Three and counting...
-
He's one of the few Wings still going to the tough areas of the ice, after being run at by the Preds all night.
-
frick. Ericsson blocks the first shot and it lands right on another Preds stick.
-
How have they let arenas keep seamless glass for this long. And they're still only changing it at the end boards?? That's ridiculous. They need to replace it all around.
-
Well with the elbow to Abby's face and then the punch to Cleary, he's given you two pretty good reasons.
-
Wow. how did that not go in?! great pass by E and Modano dings it off the bar.
-
Agreed. Redmond even commented on how he had Weber in a vulnerable position and correctly let up. I want someone to beat the snot out of him, but not that way.
-
Damn. nice pass from the corner there past Raf, and STuart (I think) didn't have his man tied up in front. Jimmy had no chance.
-
Which is why I think it's more about the trolling than the actual hockey.
-
He definitely did. I'm not really sure that was the right play. If Kronner keeps playing defense the Wings maybe get possession and the refs whistle it because Eaves is clearly hurt. Instead it became a 5 on 3. Worked out ok though. Just hopes eaves is all right.
-
Your trolling has gotten so old. It's all Crosby and enforcer baiting.
-
Wow. Eaves hit with a Weber slapshot. Crawling to the bench.
-
Ack. Stuart got undressed on that one.
