Over the years it's become more and more about the stat sheet. Selke is about the best two way forward who puts up a lot of points. Norris is becoming more and more about a d-man scoring a lot of points. It's gotten ridiculous. It's one thing for people on forums, but don't sportswriters actually watch games anymore? Fugly is having a great year and putting up a ton of points, but he's not even the #1 D man on his team and he doesn't spend any time on the PK. Green wasn't deserving of a Norris either, but he was definitely more qualified than Fugly is, considering the award is supposed to be for best all around defenseman. I don't disagree that his relative value to the team is probably a factor in him getting all this attention, but it shouldn't matter. This is the Norris, not the Hart.

A little off topic, but honestly when I think about it, unless we're talking about the playoffs, any suspension should be more than two games, or make it none at all. Because sitting a guy for a couple games in an 82 game season is practically just giving him a rest. If you're going to dole out punishment, make sure it really hurts the team. If the act doesn't warrant that kind of punishment then it probably didn't deserve suspending for any games at all.

No kidding. I'm happy with the Wings overall, but talk about some homer grades there from the free press. On a team that's often giving up 3 and 4 goals a game, they're getting off easy for defensive miscues. Kronwall's had a great offensives season, but as mentioned by Khan hasn't been hitting anybody, and has had more than his fair share of brainfarts defensively. To me that warrants lower than an A. I'd give Kronwall a B, maybe B- Rafalski too. doing great offensively, but some games he'll get three points but have just as many brutal defensive gaffes. B or B-. Homer's been his usual self in front of the net and in the corners, but has been a turnover machine anywhere else. I guess a B fits that though. And how does Howard get an A-, unless these grades were given after the game last night? Jimmy's not been bad, but if he was in the A range last season, he's a B this season. Too many juicy rebounds and occasional softies. Ozzy I'd give a B. good, not great. But for the first time has shown he can be effective as a backup. Otherwise I thought most of the other grades were pretty good.

Well, at least it wasn't one of the worst hits he's ever seen. That one happened to Franzen, right? For the record, I think Crosby's a super-talented whiny little *****. But this forum's obsession with him has gotten just sad. Who gives a crap? People complain about how the NHL gives him way too much attention, but how much do we give him here? He's one single player in the other conference that we'll never really see until the Cup finals if both teams make it that far.

Lack of production isn't the problem. Lack of commitment to team defense is.
-
Yup. he's already been suspended for hitting a guy in the numbers and putting him face-first into the boards.
-
He had a long name on the back of his sweater, but I think it was "Gutlesspuke." Not sure I spelled it correctly though.
-
Babs is awesome. Calling it disgraceful, saying all you have to do is hit the guy, not target his head. "It's unfortunate s*** like that goes on." think he's pissed?
-
Pretty much. We already spent our Langenbrunner money on Modano.
-
Not sure. Cleary missed 19 games when he broke his jaw. I think it was 6-8 weeks for him. But I think he also needed surgery. Stuart may not. Plus you lose a lot of weight because you can't eat. So even when a player comes back, they're not really all the way back for a while.
-
f***. Stuart's got a broken jaw.
-
thankfully that link didn't work, considering the topic was about you not wearing pants.
-
I'm not sure that's relevant. You probably had no pants during regulation.

Wow. Wings come away with two points they didn't deserve tonight. Ugly but I'll take it. Now tomorrow how bout working on letting in less than 4 goals as a team?
-
I think the slow mo replay of Bert's goal was faster than he actually took it. crap. Z looked like he hadn't decided what he was going to do there.
-
Tanguay with a Youngblood-length windup there.
-
c'mon Hudler. Let's take another step towards earning your paycheck.
-
Drapes, Eaves, Helm for the shootout. Just for the balls it would take to do that.
-
Huge save there by Jimmy on Iginla.
-
wow. I don't know what to say about that call.
-
Right idea. Just missed it Helm. Crap. Penalty on Detroit.
-
*counting number of Wings players on the ice* Nope. We're even strength.
-
Isn't it time for Zetterberg to get on the ice and score the winning goal?
-
how the hell was that onside? everyone stopped playing that was so obvious.

Hey, I can dream. It is sad that I couldn't really even think of a name to put in there, so I just put Red Wing. Abby, Eaves, Ericsson. Those guys will go, but they're not exactly gonna beat the snot out of someone. And before anyone mentions Perry, E used his size to ragdoll him, but he didn't beat the crap out of him.
