While I agree he's never been the best goalie in the game, he's above an average goalie. An average goalie does not have a 16 year career in the NHL.

Because shutouts are somehow the only measure of good play? 3 goals on 46 shots is a .939 sv % by the way, that's better than ok. The reality is Jimmy has been playing average, at best. I'm a Howard fan and hope he is the future, but he hasn't been the Jimmy of last season. Ozzy has been good, with flashes of great. how is that hot dogging? It's the first NHL goal of his career, and he's grabbing the Winged Wheel. To me he's celebrating the goal as a Red Wing. If he starts doing crap like dropping his stick and holding his hands over it like it's hot, that's a different story.

Win the Kings win at home and they're announcing the three stars, each Kings player who's one of the three stars skates out and hands his stick over the glass to a fan. Not sure if that's become commonplace or not, but they're the first team I saw doing it. Pretty cool.

The most common story I've heard for the invention of hockey is it being started by the British, and ice hockey being originated by British soldiers stationed in Canada, so it's not unfounded to say it's British. Other stories involve it starting as a Scottish game, others say theres evidence of it being played in Egypt centuries ago. The origins of hockey aren't just Canadian.

Great post. It's rare to find a thoughtful, reasoned one regarding goaltenders around here. Jimmy hasn't been awful, but he certainly hasn't been as good as last season either. And Ozzy, thankfully, has been a lot better than he was this past season. I think Ozzy's warranted a few more starts. At the very least, hopefully it'll put some heat on Jimmy and he'll get his game back together.

The Kings played like crap that game, plus the refs handed the Flyers a couple 5 on 3s. One of the refs (Auger, I think) had his panties in such a twist with a few Kings players that with a few minutes left in the game, he gave 10 minute misconducts to two different Kings players on two separate plays, but didn't call a minor penalty on either of them. I've never even seen something like that before. In other words, it was a weird game and the Kings didn't play well. This isn't rock paper scissors. Flyers beating Kings, Kings beating Wings, does not necessarily follow that Flyers beat Wings.

I get that. It's just frustrating because it's such a tight race in the west, and you'd hope that they'd pick up wins against the lesser teams, which the Isles definitely are. But beyond that I also don't see how it matters they beat the Penguins. I'm just worried the fixation here with Crosby and the Pens (especially considering they're not even in the same conference) is starting to get a bit like Hawks fans creepy obsession with the Wings.

Wings didn't capitalize on the weak call that gave them a PP. Isles did. And Jimmy was actually there in time but it looked like it squeaked under his arm.

Didn't get a chance to see the game so I thought i'd drop in the GDT so mindfly could tell us what was wrong with the Wings win tonight. Eaves got a friggin hat trick?!?! I guess since Hudler's showing up on the scoresheet, he figures he's gotta step it up to stay in the lineup.

Yeah. I'm just saying that three of the four guys are below the faceoff dots, Kronwall being the only one back. Hopefully he'll just keeping getting that shot through and on net.
