As a fan I understand wanting the Wings to win every game, but the season is long. Each play, or win or loss does not make or break a player's career or the team's Cup chances this season.

Don't forget Luongo. He's 1-2, and let in a couple bad ones against the Kings last night. Ozzy didn't look sharp against Dallas, but he played well against Chicago. He doesn't need to set the world on fire. He just needs to play solid for 30 or so games this season.

It was definitely time. We're all getting older Malts. But what a career. And what a blue collar Red Wing through and through. For a city like Detroit, the Wings should have a special category for players like Maltby. Not the most talented, but a hard working, loyal, lunchpail kind of player that was an important part of this franchise for 16 seasons. It's just not gonna be the same without him out there irritating the crap out of guys, blocking shots, and taking punches in the face to draw a penalty.

I guess it depends on your expectations of him. He's basically a plug and usually performs as such. For some reason, some people here think he should be the regular bottom pairing. (not saying ben does, but others do). I'm a little bummed because Kindl has not been particularly impressive in a relatively limited role. He's obviously inexperienced, but with the injuries cropping up already on D the Wings may need to use him more than planned.

Football is an incredibly high emotional game. they wouldn't allow this kind of stuff either. Wiz wasn't on the bench and a camera happened to catch him. He was on the friggin ice by the goalie right after a play. Of course that's going to be televised. And that does not happen every game. Like them or not, television stations have decency standards they have to abide by. Honestly they're contradictory and often ridiculous, but the shows running on them still have to try to honor them. If you want hockey to be an even more marginalized sport, then let guys skate around the ice making obscene gestures at one another after plays. The fact that he's an alternate captain just makes the lack of judgment even more glaring.

This. Hjalmarsson may have thought Pominville would have the puck by then, but it was still a hit from behind and boarding. Terrible judgment by Hjalmarsson. Definitely worthy of 5 and a game and if the league wants players to start using better judgment, worthy of a suspension too. These are the kinds of hits you can safely remove from the game without it ruining hitting over all. This was not a split second move or decision in a fast paced game. He lined him up from behind.

Pretty funny to see but incredibly bad judgment by Wiz. If you're on the ice it's safe to assume you're on camera. Did he think he was in a beer league or something? Television contracts (meager as they are compared to other pro sports) are what help pay his $3.25 million salary.
