Yes, I think holland should re-sign him. The Wings are desperately in need of goals and Homer is a relative bargain. As for a new contract, it's hard for me to say. Hopefully only a couple years and anything under 2 per year would be good. When he's healthy he's good for 20-30 goals and 40 to 50 points. But with the beating he takes, how many games he'll actually play is always a gamble.

Noooooo! He is in no way a good choice to fill Lidstroms' spot. Mike Green as the #1 guy in clutch situation would be disaster for the Wings. He still has suspect decision making. I'd be amazed if Green was the best defenseman in the league for years to come. Not saying it can't happen, but he'd have to transform his defensive game. Though I think he'll continue to put up gaudy numbers that may get him another undeserved Norris nod. Thankfully I can't see the Caps getting rid of him, and he's really a better fit in their style of play than the Wings system. I can't imagine him playing under Babcock. After his third bad decision to jump into the play, he'd probably be riding the pine.

Honestly I don't think it's a very good choice, and I like Ovy. Maybe it's because I grew up watching Yzerman as captain that's influenced how I think they should act, but I think passionate guys like Ovechkin are better off when they have free reign. He's definitely the franchise, but I don't know that makes him the best team representative, especially considering his english skills. It'd be like naming Roenick captain. Or Hull. And I don't think Brett was a very good one. Those kind of players are better off being able to be the loose cannons that they inherently are and not have to speak for the team. And frankly, Ovy whines too much for my liking to be a captain.

Really? I could see him going with Parros in a staged fight. It'll end the way every Parros fight does. He drops the gloves, squares up, throws a few off balance punches, then falls down on his own.

Stuart has definitely stepped up in a major way this season. He's been playing like a top pairing D-man, and providing a much needed physical aspect to the blueline. Glad we have him signed for a couple more years.

I don't know if you were putting those in priority order, but if you were, honestly I'd put lack of injuries higher. It was a big factor in the Wings losing in the conference finals a few seasons ago, in their cup run, and in running out of steam last season.

Bert for $1.5 mill is a pretty good deal. Or Howard, like you mentioned. If he becomes the starter for the rest of the season and playoffs, that's a pretty good deal. And though his actual skill may not be that high, I'd say Helm for 600k is a good deal too. He plays 16+ minutes a game, kills penalties, hits. And he's re-energized Drapes this year. But theres no one like Z and Franzen.. Those guys were a steal under their previous contracts.
