Great move by Flip. Hope he keeps shooting like that.
-
Sadly I think for a lot of people it's the latter. That or they get their info from hockey videogames.
-
Agreed. I just think it's a bit of the boy who cried wolf with Homer. He has a reputation.
-
Just long enough to wave to Lebda and Meech.
-
good kill by the Wings.
-
I think Homer gets no love from the refs in part because he embellishes a lot. That's not to say he doesn't get the crap knocked out of him in front of the net, but a lot of times he just falls forward not even trying to stay on his feet.

Probert, Gallant, Stevie. I think I saw O'Connell too. The good ole days.
-
Shoot. The. Puck. Especially since Bert is our entire offense these days.
-
Dats with only 4 even strength goals so far? wow.
-
icing? didnt the avs player coming out of the box skate right by the puck?
-
wtf? great start guys. give up an odd man rush 11 seconds in and take a penalty?
-
Kyle Quincey has more points than Lidstrom. What bizarro world season is this?? hopefully in the new year the Wings will get players back and things will return to relatively normal.
-
That's part of why I'm so hard on the guy and what people need to remember when they're comparing defenseman. Including playoffs, Lebda has 360 NHL games under his belt. Ericsson has 80, and Meech has 102. (honestly I didn't realize Meech had even that many) Barring some major transformation, Lebda is as good as he's gonna get.

The Value of an Enforcer: Brad May/ The Misunderstood Point Sytem
haroldsnepsts replied to a topic in General
It is definitely noticeable how when May goes to the net, he doesn't get facewashed and screwed with the way other Wings players do. Even beyond May, just having guys who will drop the gloves like Abby and Janik helps. That's how Perry ended up getting ragdolled by Ericsson. He was screwing with him after the whistle, not realizing Ericsson will actually fight. This day an age it's hard for a guy that's just an enforcer to be that useful because they play such limited minutes, but it helps. Better still is guys who can play the game and knock people's lights out, but they're hard to come by. -
Maybe it technically wouldn't have also been interference, but it still wouldn't have been a clean hit. He got 5 minutes for boarding, not 2 for interference.
-
But you already admitted it was an illegal play. So anytime Phaneuf is out there, Kopitar should expect an illegal hit? You can't really play the game that way. Technically it's interference because Phaneuf kept him from getting to the puck. When it involves two players cruising at high speed and you ignore the puck to crush a guy into the boards, you're gonna get more than two minutes. And he did a wee bit more than "take his space away." He could've done that by putting his body between Kopitar and the puck, which he had the angle to do. Hits like that could happen at least once a game if there were more idiots out there like Phaneuf. Instead most players realize that the guy chasing the puck is in a vulnerable position and it isnt a hockey play. So they go after the puck or make sure they're between the player and the puck. It's pretty easy to hit a guy when he doesn't expect it because it's illegal and not a routine hockey play.
-
huh? your arguments keep making less and less sense. Kopitar didnt challenge Phaneuf physically. It's not like he tried to check him or fight him. He was trying to make a play on the puck.
-
all I see is him grimacing there as he skates to the bench. It's fairly likely he got the wind knocked out of him.
-
I think your expectations are totally unrealistic. I'll settle for an ordinary hat trick. It does even have to be a natural one.

What Five Current NHL Players Do You Hate the Most?
haroldsnepsts replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
Dude. I kind of don't like Green because I'm tired of all his fanboys raving about how great he is, nevermind that he can't play defense. But now I have two reasons. Is he in a boy band that I don't know about? -
What Five Current NHL Players Do You Hate the Most?

Calling Tootoo "Little ball of hate" is an insult to the real Little Ball of Hate, Pat Verbeek. As for Kane, aside from the fact he exudes this douchiness much like Crosby, there's also the cab incident ($1.20, seriously?), the mouthguard constantly hanging out of his mouth, even during plays. But beyond that, the guy is the worst cherrypicker I've seen in a long time. I was at the game against Chicago on the 28th, and it looked like the Hawks were shorthanded a few times until I realized Kane was hiding over by the far boards waiting for a breakout pass. Seriously, I don't think he knows what Huet or Niemi look like because he never gets close enough to that end of the rink. He makes Brett Hull look like a Selke candidate. -
The thing I don't get about Leino is as a prospect, some of his attributes were listed as "Strong down low on the cycle ... Controls the puck well along the boards ... Competitive and determined." Where has that Ville Leino been?
-
Agreed. That play only had one possible outcome. The only question is how bad the injury to Kopitar would be.
-
The stats may be fairly even, but of the two, Howard has been the more consistent. Early on he let in some brutal softies but is now playing a lot more steady, though he still has some issues with rebound control. Ozzy on the other hand has had flashes of brilliance, but then continues to let in absolutely back breaking, momentum killing goals. I like Ozzy, but he's the seasoned veteran and multiple Cup winner. He needs to get his s*** together, because the hot/cold thing has gotten old, especially on a team plagued with injuries.

am I the only one that bothers?
