Exactly. The headline makes it sound so much worse than it is. "Howie has been playing great, so sometimes you have to go with the program," Osgood said. "It gets frustrating at times, but you have to do it." "You always want to play and compete and be a big part of what happens. That's what has kept me in the league so long. I am just not content to sit there and do nothing."

What Five Current NHL Players Do You Hate the Most?

The only way I'd hate Hossa is if he is a monster in the playoffs and leads Chicago to win the Cup. -

I figured all 5 of yours would be Crosby. My honorable mentions would include Iginla, Niedermayer, Perry, and Crosby. Though honestly I'd take any of them on the Wings except Niedermayer. Perry and Crosby are such little *******, but they're too good to pass up. -
He isn't what anyone would call a great defensive player. And no way is he equal to Boyle defensively. Green still makes a lot of terrible decisions on the ice. Sure he's great on the powerplay, but they have plenty of talented defenseman who can man the point. If they want more offense than that, they'd be better off throwing a forward out there than wasting a roster spot for a defenseman who is only really useful on the power play (considering all the players they had to choose from).

Tootoo - the suckerpunch king Kane - if cherrypicking won playoff games, this kid would have a Conn Smythe Ott - dirty player and "tough guy" with non-fighters Ribiero - just plain don't like him. probably because I lost all respect after the stunt in Montreal. Rutuu (Jarkko) - dirty player -
I can't help being a d-bag. A leopard can't change his spots. it's a pet peeve around here. In this case it's pretty clear what happened, but not when someone posts a thread "Listrom resigns!" I guess I should've just stayed on topic with the semin-al fluid jokes?

Honestly I don't think Niedermayer deserves to be there based on his performance this season. He's having an off year. but I realize with a player like that it's about more than just this season. Glad to see Green didn't make the list and they went with real defenseman. A lot of Caps homers are going to be pissed.

Re-signed. big difference than resigned.

The problem is Leino's linemates get a minus just for being on the ice with him when a goal is scored. This is a decent explanation of why +/- isn't a very useful stat. But the short of it is that there's too many other factors that can give a player a plus or minus that has nothing to do with his actual performance. The teammates he's on the ice with, how good the team is overall, the opponents he's matched up against. So much of it depends on the context. And if you know enough about a player to have that context, then you don't need the +/- stat anyway. -
Except that's what's happening right now. They've never given it a chance with 4 on 4 under the new rules, and for 10 minutes. I thought about no points for ties but that wouldn't be fair and would probably wreak too much havoc with the standings. Obviously ties aren't the most exciting outcome, but it would preserve the integrity of the game and keep from inflating standings from the loser point.

Great video. The only ones I disagree with are a couple of the goaltender highlights. flopping around in the crease and randomly hitting the puck with your stick and blocker isn't a play of the decade to me. That and I'd never consider a shootout goal a great play because it doesn't take place during an actual hockey game.
-
It's basically an all-star skill event that should in no way decide the outcome of a game. And because the league knows it's not a legit way to decide a game, they award the loser point. I can't remember the stat, but this season a lot of games are going to a shootout. One of the goals was to make overtime actually relevant so teams would try and decide the game there. It's apparently not happening. I say go to 10 minutes 4 on 4 overtime, no shootout. 2 points for a win, 1 for a tie, and zero for losing. no pro sport should ever award points for losing.

Agreed. Tonight Flip had a great pass to a Wings player breaking to the net... and it was Kris Draper. Not a knock on Drapes, but it was a great play, he's just not a great finisher. Datsyuk is really our only star forward right now, and though he had a couple good games lately, he's been invisible more than he's been a force out there like he was last season.

It's nice to have a few players out there who will drop the gloves. May, Janik, Abby. With the fights tonight the Wings just matched their fight total from last season (11). Now we just need someone like a young Stevie Yzerman to score us some goals.

Busted! I like how he didn't even change up his trolling post from when the Wings lost to Chicago. He's as smart as he is creative. -

that looked like too many men on the jackets. the guy stepped off to cover Helm while his teammate was still a couple strides from the bench. -

it's driving me nuts. Maybe it's psychological warfare by Mason. The Wings keep thinking they hit the post before they even take a shot. -
