Fans of every team think they've been screwed over by officials more than most. Detroit has had a few choice calls go against them, but it's not like over the last few seasons they've gotten regularly screwed.

Better yet, why don't you watch some other hockey games. Ones for teams you don't care about so you can have a dispassionate view of the game. Watch the defense, the goaltending, etc. Then come back and hopefully you'll have something to add to the conversation other than appearing just to rip on goaltending. Ozzy has not been good, but to just blame him is grossly oversimplifying it.

I would've loved for Ozzy to make that save, but it's not one I'd point to as evidence of what's wrong with this team or his play in particular. (Because I do think he has not been as good as the team needs him to be right now). They need some key players to step up and help right this ship. Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Osgood.

watch the replay. He's tracking the puck the whole time and getting ready to move side to side. If he had gone down, he would've taken himself out of the position if the puck made it to the Flames player on the right side. I can see faulting him for a weak 5 hole, but it's not like he zoned out. He's keyed into the puck the whole time and is in a position to make a quick move. He clearly wasn't expecting a shot of Datsyuk's stick. either way, Osgood has not been strong, but that's one of many problems the team is having right now.

Exactly. I'm no Osgood apologist, but when the puck is on Datsyuk's stick, you're not expecting a shot coming at you a second later.

It was basically a slam dunk to the open side by Lundmark. There were four Wings players down low, not doing a very good job of clearing the area or covering anyone. They looked completely out of sorts. And Lids and Z were two of the four. This team is out of sync. On the other end I don't think the Wings have had a lot of quality shots on Kipper.

He definitely didn't stick a leg out like Laraque did. But he does lead with his knee out wide as he angles at him, which is no way to throw a hit and what makes it borderline to me. If you come at a guy with your knee sticking out like that, there's a pretty good chance you're gonna have knee to knee contact. If you don't have the guy's upper body lined up for the hit (which he clearly doesn't), you've gotta let up.

Saying things as if they're true doesn't make them so. You seriously need to watch the video of the hit again. He stopped and got his body out of the way??? He makes the slightest move with his feet like he's starting a turn, but hardly changes speed. He didn't even start to hockey stop or jump out of the way because he never saw the hit coming. As for the Modano video, I cringe everytime they drop him. You'd think the NHL would have better guys on standby than those clowns. Good thing he didn't have a neck injury.

Sorry Mule. I hope you don't make the Olympics and continue to rehab and get in game shape for the NHL. I'd rather Mule is completely healthy and rested and poised to tear it up the second half of the season. The Wings need him.

The hatred for him here vastly outnumbers the supporters. Frankly I don't know if there are really more than a few Crosby supporters here. Mostly it's just people calling haters out on the ridiculous s*** they find to bash him about. Not hating him doesn't make people look smart. It's just that bashing him for the way he sneezes, or puts on his gloves, or whatever ridiculous crap, sure does. There are legitimate discussions to be had about Crosby. They just don't happen here.

That's patently false. The majority of threads about Crosby here are to make fun of him. They are almost entirely negative. Like I said, he's a little ***** in a lot of ways, and I'm sick of the league cramming him down fan's throats. But generally he gets s*** here for things that he has no control over. The people who are blind haters with no hockey sense are the ones who try to diminish or ignore what he's already done in his career. As for the actual article, the title of it overstates it for dramatic effect. Crosby hurting the Pens is a ridiculous notion. But I would agree that he's not helping them as much as you'd think or as much as he has in the past.

Agreed. To me boarding is generally more about hitting a guy who is a few feet away from the boards in such a way that he goes flying into them in a dangerous manner. A lot of those are also going to be hits from behind, but it's not a requirement for the call. just one more borderline hit for AO.

This is the silver lining if the Wings have an off season. It will thin the herd of fans who have only been watching since the Wings have been completely dominant. This team doesn't suck, it just doesn't have near the talent it used to and has a lot of injuries. This is what an average hockey team looks like.

I forgot they had decided to do this. Bad idea. And while I wouldn't want the NHL playing on international size rinks, the league would be improved by adding a couple feet in width to the rink. Guys have gotten so much bigger and faster, there's less room out there than there used to be.

Datysuk, Holmstrom and Cleary each with only one shot on goal. I know Dats is a setup guy, but he's also the most offensively skilled player on the team. The top line guys shouldn't be getting outchanced by Drew Miller.
