Are there really Meech lovers? I think it's more of a case of pick your poison. Or maybe grass is always greener? Lebda is probably better overall, but not by nearly as much as he should be considering this is his 5th season in the NHL.
-
Agreed. If they just get average but consistent goaltending, they're very capable of making the playoffs. Smyth should add the goals they were missing last season, and though they lost Quincey, they have Jack Johnson back and Doughty is only going to get better. Their defense is crazy young (minus Odonnel), but talented.

I can only assume you accidentally posted in the wrong thread. We're talking about Jordin Tootoo here. Yes he gets in fights, but he hardly backs up his actions.
-
Flip has looked really good so far. I don't know if he bulked up, but he's playing like a bigger man than last season. He just needs to shoot more and figure out the timing a little better to get those shots off.
-
Honestly I'm a little tired of the "no passion" or "no effort" arguments. When you get outplayed by the other team, it often looks like you're playing without passion because everything is out of sync.
-
Interesting. I have to wonder if that was just a way out of a trade Dallas didn't want. Quincey must've had to pass a physical for LA, right? If they were looking for an offensive puck moving defenseman, he wasn't it. He was pretty good on the PP in LA, but mostly I think he excelled as a stay at home guy who kept it simple.

Quincey is better than Meech and lebda. That's as much a failure on how Holland developed him as it is on Quincey's inability to perform. Everyone here is quick to point out what a genius Holland is, but they backed themselves into a corner due to Chelios, Q got put on waivers, and suddenly all this untapped potential was realized. There's blame on both sides. Because clearly Quincey had the ability to perform better than he was given the right circumstances, which involved more than icetime. Because if he was a trainwreck, even in LA he wouldn't have gotten that amount of minutes.

Zetterberg is a little better on the pk than Datsyuk. Dats is a total pickpocket, but Z plays the body more, which is important around the net. But to stay on topic, Cleary and Franzen (cleary especially) are defensively responsible players. What makes you say they're not?

This. His defense is improving and they're still sorting out chemistry. This thread is lazy and it sucks.â„¢

Kings win 2-1. Right down to the wire.
-
Blues just got a PP. Refs want to make this one interesting.
-
No he hasn't.

Bert learning how to backcheck. good to see.
-
Green is great offensively, but man that guy is problematic defensively. He almost got undressed by Kris friggin Draper. How does he only have 1 turnover? I've seen him make three tonight. I don't get how they track takeaways and giveaways.
-
He must have the cleanest stick blade at the end of the game.
-
good thing Bert blocked that shot, because he was awful soft on puck pursuit for a big man.
-
Flip is playing more physical this year for sure. Great to see. Now he's gotta shoot the puck more.
-
that was a soft call. Homer! What's with Ken yelling "snipe!"

When you talk about vigilante behavior on the ice after the Bertuzzi incident, you're gonna get some attention from the league. I don't think it was intentional by Iginla, but as others have said, you have to be responsible for your stick. He knocked Souray's skate out and created a dangerous play for both of them. And people really need to get over the Malkin thing. Yes, by the letter of the rule he should've been given a game misconduct. But the Wings got breaks too. Like Zetterberg covering the puck in the crease. It didn't make or break the series. the Wings just didn't get it done.

see above youtube clips. Lebda can't really hipcheck.
-
Shhhh, you'll spoil the drama queen's fun. He needs some cause so he can draw attention to himself, even if it requires a mostly fictional opponent to rail against. I'm guessing this quote from Babcock has been posted already, but just in case. Here it is again. I'm glad this guy is Detroit's coach. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=4542216

I'm fairly certain Babcock wouldn't pair those two. He's split up one of the other pairings first.
-
shoot the puck Pavel
-
No kidding. I didn't know he had moves like that other than on the shootout.

blocking a shot on the pk?
