Good goal by the Hawks on a soft call.
-
who was that on the Wings who got smoked? Maltby?
-
Huge save by Ozzy there. that was a nice lead pass by 20 Cents.
-
How was May's fight? Was it more of a meaningless staged thing by a guy trying to earn his keep? Or was he actually sticking up for his teammates out there?
-
Kopecky shooting on our net. Williams clearing the puck for Detroit. this is so confusing...
-
which d-man just lost his place in the lineup to friggin Meech?

I should've been clearer. For Ericsson's level of development, I think he has shown better game smarts than Kronner did. Kronwall has been much, much better the last couple seasons, but his early career he showed some unbelievably bad decisions for such a talented guy. And honestly I think overall Kronwall is offensively more talented, which makes his gaffes stand out that much more. Ericsson has been incredibly consistent for being so green, but he keeps it pretty simple.

To me those are three clips of Lebda submarining guys, to varying degrees. Clutterbuck's was about the only one close to being a good hip check. I'm not condoning Lankow's choke move, but Lebda gets down way too low and is in danger of taking out a guy's knees.

Seeing this makes me think of when you see a tiger in a circus act.
-
I guess you didn't see Saturday's game? Each of those two soft goals Howard let in started with a major screwup by Lebda.

Will You Be Surprised if the Wings dont make the Playoffs?

He never played a postseason game for them, so they may not fully know. -
Name the costly mistakes Ericsson made that were anywhere near as bad as Lebda's. ericsson will be fine. Lebda is a nightmare out there. And pairing him with an inexperienced guy like Ericsson isn't helping either of them. Of course, short of pairing him with Lidstrom, I don't know what would help lebda. One of the only things he has to offer is speed, and on Saturday the two goals were partly a result of getting outraced.
-
uh, what are you rolling your eyes at? Ericsson was Lebda's defensive partner. So of course when Lebda screws up and the puck ends up in the back of Detroit's net, it's a minus one for both of them. Weren't you at the game? The second to last goal, Lebda made a bad move to the boards and got beat. The last goal, Lebda somehow let a guy get behind him for a long bomb bank pass, which led to the clean slapper on Howard. Two major gaffes where the puck ended up in our net. Ericsson wasn't a standout to me on Saturday, but he also didn't make any mistakes of that caliber.

Lebda was the D-man who singlehandedly got burned on those last two awful goals. Ericsson looked fine to me.

why is it the dumbest threads are often the longest ones? dammit! I just made it longer. -
Wow. calling them the Dead Wings because they lost two games?? I started watching them in the 80s when they were truly the dead wings. This current team (that won the cup and made it to game 7 last year) is hardly that. And you must not have been watching Lebda. He was easily the worst Dman on the ice, and probably the worst Wings player.

weird how that so rarely happens with fans of other teams. -

oh. now that the thread title has changed, let me jump in on this not-at-all-whiny topic. Yes. -

Checking the scoreboard. I'm pretty sure the Blues won them. Aside from the score, the Wings had a 2-0 lead today and what, a 3-0 lead yesterday in the first period, and the blues came from behind both times. It's not like the Wings scored 4 own goals to lose the game. They got outplayed. -
Every year the played together? First of all, because he was injured so much, Kronwall was still fairly green at the NHL level when Fischer was around. He's hardly the player then he is now. Also, they were rarely in the lineup at the same time. in 2005-06 season, near as I can recall, the two never even played a game together. Kronwall didn't come back from injury until after Jiri had collapsed on the bench. in 2003-04 Kronwall played a whopping 20 games. in 2002-03 Kronner wasn't on the Wings. so you're comparing Fischer to Kronner offensively in a 20 game stint 5 years ago? I also think there's some revisionist history of Fischer. He had all the tools, but up until his last season, hadn't shown he had it between the ears. He would show incredible inconsistency and lack of judgement. It was his last season where he seemed to finally get it together. And I wasn't trying to say Ericsson would be another Fischer. But that he could be more in that mold than Kronwall's style.

I wouldn't say he sucked today. But I didn't really notice him. good or bad. -

A couple bad goals from Jimmy. But it's not like the Wings were dominating otherwise (minus the first 10 minutes). Looks lke he's got a good glove hand but a weak five-hole. Lebda was brutal. And the Wings couldn't seem to figure out what to do once the Blues started clogging central ice. -

The backlash is not about the Wings winning or losing. It's about you creating a crybaby thread because the Wings lost a game. -

No he didn't. He traded a bunch of punches with Pronger. got jabbed in the eye and taken down. Then he covered the back of his head as he was being held by the ref and Pronger was punching the back of his head. That's turtling to you??? You were talking s*** like Cleary turtled in the one fight he's ever been in for the Wings. Which is not what happened at all. Now you're splitting hairs to try and get out of it, which makes you even more of a jackass. -
