The only one I'd worry a little about is Ericsson hurting himself in a fight. But I bet Babcock will have him on a pretty short least like last playoffs. Only wanting him to go with top line guys. But realistically, who else on this team is going to actually get into enough of a fight to get hurt?

Agreed. It seems like even with much less NHL experience, Ericsson has a better game smarts than Kronner. One thing about Ericsson is I know he has a cannon of a slapshot, but he seems pretty conservative in using it. With what I've seen, part of that seems like he has a long wind up so it takes time to get the shot off. Don't get me wrong, I like that he's holding back and making sure that his shot gets through and in deep. But I hope he keeps working on his slapper so he can use it more effectively from the point.

This is the only important part of your post. Not to say those aren't legit concerns, but it's impossible to make predictions about the season based on the first 60 minutes of hockey, and in Sweden at that.

Thank you! It was better for the Wings to let him go, but he's hardly the awful player people make him out to be in this thread. Once a whipping boy, always a whipping boy I guess. As you point out, he had a good season with the Canadians, and had 21 goals and 33 assists in Chicago the year before. Yeah, why would the Coyotes possibly want a one year contract with a guy who regularly puts up 50+ points a season??? And because of his age and his injury last season, I'd guess they probably got him at markdown prices. EDIT: and him passing his physical wasn't questionable because of fitness, he had his friggen achilles tendon severed and got is surgically repaired last season.

every time I see an international game, it makes me wish that NHL rinks were a couple feet bigger. Not so big that it takes away from the hitting, but enough to give the skill guys a little bit more room to operate. The rink seems so much smaller these days compared to the 70s and 80s.

Honestly I've never been a huge fan of Manny's. To me this isn't really a tragedy, or that surprising. but I will say it's another example of how hard it is to remain a starting goaltender at this elite level for any length of time.

He didn't turtle per say, but he got his stick up high with a few good crosschecks, then stood there and basically got double teamed. Kunitz seriously could've Bertuzzied him if he had landed one of those blind punches. Franzen was just standing there like an idiot.
