One more reason why there should be a "Crosby sucks" forum so you guys can have your own special place to enjoy your fixation on him.

Where do you want the next Winter Classic be?
haroldsnepsts replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
It's basically a marketing ploy to attract new fans and get attention for the NHL, so NYC makes a lot of sense, especially while the outdoor game is relatively new. -
actually Z leads the Wings with 20:11 in ice time per game. But that's definitely an advantage the top teams have in that they can spread the minutes around instead of loading them up on their star player or players. NHL.com has a lot of great stats, though I liked the layout the way it was last year. This one is a little less intuitive.

There's definitely a double standard, but this hit isn't like the stuff I've seen Hollweg do. I couldn't find good video clips except this one, where Hollweg clearly hits the guy in the numbers and shoves him headfirst into the boards. The best replay comes at the 1:26 mark.

I guess I don't really remember the U.S. taunting that much to set it off. Of course, I could be biased. lol I mainly brought up the Canadian taunting because of the ridiculousness of McGuire. Saying that some kid got tomahawked, and the way a lot of people were reacting you'd think he was innocently skating towards the bench after thanking God and saving a drowning puppy, when this U.S. player came up and brutally slashed him in the face for no reason. But yes, both teams need to exhibit more restraint.
-
How was it nothing compared to this? Honestly if you just look at the hit and not what happens to Heward after the play, it looks fairly harmless. As for the Lappy hit, of course people were outraged for two main reasons. One it's Lidstrom, who rarely if ever gets hit. Two, it looked like he got him with a butt end to the chin. If this is Pronger on Datsyuk, I'd still think it was an unfortunate hit, though Im' sure people would be screaming for Pronger to be banned from the league. It doesn't really matter though because I doubt people who think this was a dirty hit would believe me. As someone else mentioned, no one from the Lightning even goes after Ovechkin. Not because they're cowards, but because it wasn't a cheapshot.
-
Unfortunate hit. Not dirty. Heward was bending over at the last second. And this is not like the Kostopolous hit, where it was clearly in the numbers and he was away from the boards. If you look at the replay, AO's body hardly makes contact with Heward, Ovechkin turns away and his back slams the boards. It looks like AO's elbow catches Heward in the head, not because of a flying elbow, but because Heward was bent over. To me this looks like a fluke play. Not some cheapshot. And before someone calls me blind because I'm some huge AO fan, bite me. I'm sick of that "if you disagree with me it's because you're a homer" argument. Ovechkin's a great player, but I don't really follow the guy.

just like that kid brought the stick to the face on himself?
-
Hey numnuts, can you show me the part where I say it excuses him for sticking the guy in the face? And you might be thinking of DiDomenico for flopping like he'd been shot, then he's suddenly all better.
-
Still a major @sshole move. He was asking for it skating right in front of the bench to do that. It's not an accident he ended up that close. I don't feel sorry for him. I love how it sounds like mcguire yells that the canadian player got "tomahawked." Van Riemsdyk looks like smacked his face on the t.v. monitor. Still might have been playing it up, but he's not the one who was taunting. Actually watching that replay, I spread the blame on just about every Canadian kid on the ice. They celebrate the goal along the boards, then several of them are taunting the US bench. DiDomenico is just the one who chewed on a stick for it. actually 3 of the 5 canadians. Good to see Tavares wasn't one of them. That was a great goal and I like that kid.
-
U.S. was outplayed. that doesn't change the douchey move by the Canadian players parading past the U.S. bench after the goal. Funny how you refer to the outplayed, when it has nothing to do with the showboating by Canada. I don't think that idiot will be taunting so close next to the opposing team's bench anytime soon.

Chelios was out there for 5 shifts. I think all of them in the first. Is he still hurt? or is he just done?

When the refs called less than 6 penalties a period, it was nice to actually watch the teams play some hockey.- 1,043 replies

Wings need to be really careful here and not take a penalty, because I'd bet the refs are looking for one.- 1,043 replies
