This is Quick's first NHL start this season. Talk about being thrown into the fire...

They happen so fast it was hard to tell which hit was whose. (I must be getting old) Nice work though. If the NHL ran a spot like that during a football game, or hell even a UFC match, I feel like they'd start attracting fans. I've always thought they should run ads during the end of football season that show how fast and physical hockey is. Give fans something to watch until the NFL picks back up.

Agreed. Many people seem to think he won't get a penny more than Dats. It's not that he's worth more, it's about the timing of the contracts. If Datsyuk and Z were re-signing at the same time, they probably would get the same amount, but honestly Dats would command more than what he's getting paid right now. I'd be surprised if Zetterberg agreed to $6.7. I guess the cap hit could get close to that number if he signs long term and the last few years really fall of in salary. I can never remember the exact rules on that in the CBA though.

The Kings are very good at limiting shots on goal, but have shaky goaltending right now with Ersberg out. LaBarbera has been pretty unsteady. Plus they're still having problems scoring goals. If the Wings play a full 60 minutes again, they should have little problem. It'll be fun to watch Doughty though. At 19 years old, he's incredibly poised. This kid's gonna be a great defenseman. I don't expect anything flashy from Quincey, but it'll be hard to watch him play solid D for 20+ minutes out there without shaking my head, considering we have Lebda on our end and Chelios a healthy scratch.

I thought Conks had a shaky start, but great to see him get the shutout. And to see this team play solid defense for 60 minutes. Great effort tonight. It's nice to see how this team can play when they actually are fired up.

I think Sharks fans have the same trauma as Wings fans from those great regular seasons followed by early playoff exits.
