Cleary looked awfully slow getting up.

Wow. what a shot by Hossa. Top corner.

I want to see a Hudler Kane fight. Hudler can be our flyweight enforcer.

When it's Stuart, Sammy and Kronwall in the scrum, I'm not sure there really is a potential fight.

Great heads up play by Conklin.

The Wings have such a logjam on defense that they lost Quincey for nothing. Now people are talking about trading for a Dman?

Obviously not on the PK, but it'd be great to see the Wings throwing some hits on a team that actually may be smaller than them.

I'm pretty sure the next Wings game on Versus is one against the Avs, which shows how Versus is about 10 years behind when it comes to knowing where the rivalries are at in the NHL.

It's like back in college. Why study if I keep getting A minuses by guessing?

I honestly don't think this team will get its act together until it has a significant losing streak.

The bad news is that the Wings continue to have defensive lapses, suffer from subpar goaltending, and generally look out of sorts. The good news is that in spite of those significant problems they are 17-4-4. Of course this level of play won't get them far in the playoffs, but (and I know people are sick of hearing it) they do still have a lot of time. Frankly I don't care if they play like this all season as long as they keep winning games and get their sh*t together by game one of the postseason.

That post says it all. Everything Crosby does is wrong. Everything that happens to him is not a big deal.

ahh clever. I see what you did. you took his name osGOOD and changed it to bad. Just like people have been doing for over a decade now. Way to make a cogent point in the thread.

I was making a joke, not comparing Osgood to Roy. Jeez. Here's some reality Mr. Crabbypants. Osgood is not elite. Roy was. But Osgood is a great value goaltender. Having an elite goaltender would probably cost this team at least $5 million more than they're spending on Ozzy. He's good for the money. They won the Cup last year with him between the pipes. It's clearly a strategy right now with Holland. Unless a franchise guy becomes available, they've got a goalie who's good enough to do the job at a very low price. That allows him to spend a whole lot of money on that lock down defense and lethal offense. Would you rather have Luongo between the pipes and watch a Wings team without Hossa, and probably with out either Z or Mule and maybe more? Because with an elite goalie, they'd have 13.5 million tied up in their first defensive pairing, $7 million in net, and $6.7 for Datsyuk alone. That's over $27 million in 4 players, while still needing to sign Franzen and Mule under a projected cap of $55 mill. Osgood is certainly not playing at the level he was last season. There's plenty of time for that to change. Hopefully it will.

    Avery comments & suspension

That's surprising to me. especially when you consider that 27% thinks the suspension was enough. So based on current numbers (52% think it's not enough now), that's 79% who think Avery should have been suspended 6 games or longer. It'll be interesting to see where the numbers even out at once the poll has been up a while.

Come on man, it's hardly gender neutral. The person you quoted had a pretty apt description of what it means and how it's used. Sure you could call a guy that, but it's kind of like calling a guy a ****. Not quite the same thing. He wasn't trying to bring attention to the game. He was trying to bring attention to himself. I think 6 games is too much, but the fact that worse has been said isn't a valid justification for letting this go.

Yup. They'll both get you to the Cup, it's just that one has oversized equipment and costs millions of dollars more.

I also think it's funny when a lot of people talk about Avery and this incident, they keep referring to him as a kid. He's a kid with problems. Or he's a good kid that made a mistake. He's a 28 year old man. Acting like a 12 year old doesn't make him one.

Look, I think Osgood has definitely been struggling. Three of those goals last night were bad ones. but how are these 6 year old headlines relevant? They were still out there last season when Babcock decided to play Ozzy in the playoffs. I guess because of these articles he should've stuck with Dom? I don't care if Ozzy was the greatest goalie in the league or the worst in the world in '02. What matters is how he's playing now. And he needs to get it together.

Well honestly, I said Hull is throwing him under the bus. Because he seemed like the one who really wanted Avery and brought him here, and knew what he was getting. Now he's acting as if it's a surprise that Avery did something stupid. As for the rest of the Stars, I get the sense that a lot of them didn't want him here to begin with. but I could see getting fed up. The team is struggling, they get a win on the road and are headed to Calgary, then Avery adds this major distraction.

That part I definitely agree with. The Stars are a frustrated team and it sounds like they have lockerroom problems bigger than Avery. I'm sure he was a major problem, but not the only one. But all that aside, Hull knew what he was getting when he brought him here. It's funny to read the quotes of his when he signed Avery, and now he's totally throwing him under the bus. I'm guessing part of that is Avery isn't performing like they hoped he would. He's always been a pretty good player with a lot of baggage. If he's not playing well, he's just a lot of baggage.

I didn't realize that was the limit either! That is definitely barely a slap on the wrist to guys making this kind of money. Figures that the one battle the NHLPA wins in the cba negotiations is bad for the game.

If anyone missed the pens/Rangers game

So if he gets points, it's for his own personal stats and not to try and help his team win? There's something kinda irritating about Crosby, but the level of hate here is idiotic. He's only interested in personal stats? He's the kind of guy who would get knocked down and kick you?? If that were Dats in that video people would be whining about how he's being targeted and cheering him for sticking up for himself. Crosby plays an all out game and isn't afraid to go into traffic. He's also one of the best players in the league. He's going to get knocked around a lot in his career. EDIT: and honestly I kind of think he'd be less of a whiny ****** if the Pens had a coach who wasn't such a whiny ****** himself. It sets the tone. Imagine if Babcock coached Crosby. It's the difference between a coach who wants to climb the glass to beat the crap out of Tony Granato, and a coach who complains to the media over and over about non-calls when his team is getting outplayed in the Cup finals.

Wow. 6 games?? I figured it'd be the couple games he's already missed and a healthy fine. I know the league is sick of this guy (as am I), but that is a little ridiculous. I still think this should've been left for the Dallas Stars to handle, maybe with the league putting their two cents in.
