Man, watching the replay, that third goal (weak as it was) is on Kronwall for dicking around with the puck in the corner that long and turning it over.

Fernandez is sure getting the bounces tonight. He had no idea where that puck is.

Great work by Drapes getting the puck out against the much bigger Lucic

Absolutely agree. All season the Wings have allowed teams to skate into the crease virtually untouched. Boston's done a great job clearing pucks and bodies out of there immediately. Or preventing them from getting there in the first place.

Lebda with the turnover, then the weak play by the side of his own net.

Osgood is the worst starting goalie in the league

That's a joke, right? He made a good save there. No goalie eats all rebounds. That was a good timing play, or maybe dumb luck by Voracek. I fault Ozzy for the last two goals, but not that one.

Osgood is the worst starting goalie in the league

Ozzy made a lot of huge saves last night that kept the Wings in it. I was starting to think he was getting his form back. Then the second goal which looked soft, and the awful center ice goal. He ended up looking a lot like the rest of the Wings. There's glimpses of their level of play from last year, but still too many breakdowns. And I think people are overrating Conklin's play. It's the backup goalie effect. Don't get me wrong, he's been solid, and more consistent than Ozzy. But I still think he's giving up a lot of juicy rebounds. As for who's going to start in the playoffs, I don't think that discussion has any meaning until the Wings have played at least 40 more games.

    Sammy's solid defensively.

Made some huge saves that kept the Wings in the game. The 2nd goal was a seeing-eye goal, but looked kinda soft. And the third was an awful goal from center ice.

Wow that was a bad goal to give up.

Are you kidding? Lebda's like Paul Coffey. Minus the passing. And shooting. And puckhandling.

You seriously need to seek professional help. The Wings did score three goals. Those clicked pretty well.

wtf? everything old is new again. Even deflected, Ozzy had 60 feet still to make that save. Man, he's made huge saves tonight, then let in one weak goal and one horrible one.

You are not alone. I always hope someone gets checked through the glass and knocks their ass out as they're turned around waving instead of watching the game.

Lilja got in one good one. It's too bad he's not much of a fighter, because Lilja's clearly strong. He overpowers guys with one hand on their sweater.

when you're shortanded without a stick like that, if you're a forward it seems like it'd still be better to skate like hell to the bench and get a new one. Or even hop off let someone replace you. Sure it's a 5 on 3 for a short while, but you're so useless out there without a stick.

I think it's more a case of him doing what it takes to earn a spot on this roster. He blocks shots. He's good on the PK. And I'm sure it's been made clear he shouldn't be afraid to stick up for his teammates out there. I'm a little surprised he hasn't gotten any better at it. He needs to spend some quality time with Downey or something. Or hire Joey Kocur as a special consultant.

Actually, as I've said before, I have to give Lilja a lot of credit for trying to fight at this level when he's clearly never been a fighter. He's dropping the gloves with guys who have been doing it a long time in an elite league. There's a good chance you're going to get your ass handed to you, but he's trying.

Instead of part of the game, I think it should be reviewed after the game. It would slow it down too much to try and monitor as the game goes on. But the league could take a look at dives like that and fine players after the fact, no matter what the call was at the time. By diving they're showing up the refs and embarrassing the league. It'd still be a bad penalty in the game, but I think as word gets out players are getting fined, refs are going to think twice before blowing the whistle next time that guy hits the ice.

Z! They've got to take a look at hits like those. That's more than interference. It's a cheapshot. In open ice the guy has to actually be making a play on the puck or have made a play before you can hit him. It can't just be that the puck is flying past him.

    Quincey Article

about Quincey? or about you? I don't know that anyone's really whining about Quincey. At least I'm not. But as I've said, it's kind of a headscratcher as to how this kid couldn't beat out some of the guys on the team now. I'm not saying he'll be a Norris winner or anything but he's looked really good in LA, better than I think Lebda and Lilja would with those kind of minutes. And the thought of having some more size on the blueline is tempting, especially at Quincey's price. I'm glad he's getting to play and is playing well. Like I said, I just have to wonder what went on that he couldn't get a spot here. Whether he had a Dan Cleary-like turnaround in attitude once he was picked off waivers, if the Wings missed his potential and needed to give him a better shot to see him flourish, or some other factor. Either way it's good for the Kings. Their two best D-men are 18 and 23 years old.
