Here's why I don't put much stock in the takeaway and giveaway stats. Last game against the Pens, Dats had two clear (and uncharacteristic) giveaways, but he's only registered with one. Yet tonight they say he's got two giveaways already?? He and Lidstrom are the only Wings with recorded giveaways, at two a piece. I guess Lilja's floater up the middle doesn't constitute a giveaway?

GREAT play by Stuart. going around to poke check on the other side so he wouldn't get a penalty. (or at least reduce the chance of one, by how they've been calling the game tonight)

Seriously. When he keeps it simple, he's a solid defenseman. As soon as he stops and tries to make a play, bad things happen.

The good news is that Tampa has been turning the puck over as much as Detroit, which bodes well for a Detroit comeback. Plus Wings will likely get the next PP or two.

I know it's easy to focus on Ozzy, but that pass went from one side of the ice to the other through 4 wings players. I'd still like to see what the penalty was on Zetterberg. The one on Stuart was a joke.

Really? I thought the first one was a little soft, but that was a good shot off a cross ice pass. Ozzy had to come all the way across his net.

Yup. i can't see how standing still on your own blueline is ever gonna end well.

Great illustration on that replay by Mick. Kronwall wasn't trying to stand the guy up, he got totally caught flatfooted because he wasn't paying attention to the new guy headed his way. Lack of focus and fundamentals.

The Wings will win this game by once again relying on their offense and outscoring the bolts. Because unless something changes in a major way, I don't see them limiting the quality scoring chances that well.

how do you give up a 2 on 1 when you're on the PK and should be back? Ah. Kronner got burned trying to stand him up at the blueline. That's one Ozzy probably wants back. between the arm and body.

wow. you tell 'em Mick. That was awful. The stick was parallel to the ice, but Stuart barely even touched him with it. where did that slapshot hit Lids? Looked high.
