In terms of this forum, I have no problem criticizing players, especially when they're playing poorly. The hyperbole just gets a little old here. Everyone sucks. Or they're the worst player ever. I understand being pissed right when a goal is scored against the Wings or right after they lose, but it'd be nice if people talked more about what they thought was going wrong, what mistakes they players are making. To actually talk hockey instead of just whining.

Exactly. More and more this really is looking like a hangover. They played well into spring and won everything there is to win. So it's an extremely short off season, you sure know they weren't training as much as usual, and as Matt pointed out, they have no chip on their shoulder. That comes into play on battling for loose pucks, throwing hits, making your opponent pay for that real estate in front of your net, and being disciplined to do all the little things right. Right now the offense on this team is clicking so well they seem content to gamble that way. I think they'll get better as the season wears on, but (not that I want this) it might almost be better if they did go through a losing streak instead of eeking out points in these games they're blowing. If anything's going to wake them up, it's going to be losing a handful of games and all the talk about how the Stanley Cup Champs look very beatable. Hell, as much as I thought he should've retired, maybe Cheli returning to the lineup will be a good thing. He's definitely got a hunger to play, and it's got to be pissing him off to watch the Wings screw up defensively like they have been.

Not to spoil everyone's fun, but this doesn't sound like getting fired. It sounds like the Ducks removed him as GM and put him in a "senior advisory capacity" so he could legally negotiate with other teams.

I'm wondering if the "Cup Hangover" that happens really is a fitness issue. These guys play until May and are banged up, then you sure as hell know they weren't right back to training right after the Cup win. Tonight especially, but a lot of times this seasons, the Wings look exhausted out there and are getting beat to pucks and pushed off pucks late in the game.

Our defense is bad. And not just the defenseman. The team defense is totally lacking. Like I said, I would've loved for Ozzy to come up with the game stealing saves, but this loss wasn't his fault. He's maybe not quite at the level he was last season, but overall he's a good goaltender. He's not going to steal you a ton of games, but he's not gonna cost you games either.

Simple. If you watched the game and think Ozzy played poorly, you're a ******* moron. And I'm not some Ozzy slappy. It would've been great if he made some huge saves, but those weren't soft goals. Look where most of the goals were scored from. Right in the slot. Like it has been all season, the opponents are able to crash the net whenever they feel like it. Against Detroit, that real estate between the faceoff circles is extremely easy to come by. Get over your stat fetish. Ozzy wasn't the reason Detroit lost. He played well enough to win.
