Human Eclipse is a pretty apt nickname for Homer.

I finally caught up on DVR. What a slapper by Dats! He had that stick cocked for what seemed like forever. His slapshot, much like his wrister, is surprisingly good for how relatively little he utilizes it. I'm amazed by how calm and patient most of the Detroit players look with the puck. Z, Dats, Franzen, Flip, Hossa, Lids, Kronwall. Never seem panicked or rushed, and always seem to come away with the puck. that was a sweet little pass from Hudler to Franzen too. Most guys would've thrown it on net being in that close, but he had the presence to make the great pass for the wide open net. They gave up two, but this team is looking good.

    Quincey > Meech/Lebda

I know. But the point is this is not a team deep in talent. Murray is moving lines around to try and get Kopitar going, because he's been struggling. And he's been struggling because opponents can key on him because the Kings offensive threats are so few. My main point is, Quincey looks pretty solid on a relatively inexperienced, weak team. I'm just a little surprised he couldn't win a roster spot with the Wings.

    Quincey > Meech/Lebda

As reluctant as I am to revive this thread, I've watched Quincey in a few games with L.A. now. He's not necessarily a top pairing defenseman but he keeps it pretty simple, uses the body, and almost always makes the good safe play. I just don't get how he couldn't get a spot on this team over Lebda. Honestly, even over Lilja though Lilja's had a pretty good season so far. I have to wonder if Lillypads would look as solid logging the kind of icetime Quincey is on a team as bad as LA. Honestly I didn't see him play enough with the Wings to have a strong opinion of him, but having seen him play with the Kings, I just don't get it. being a plus player is difficult when you log more icetime than any player on your team and your team is the LA Kings. Yes they have Kopitar and Brown out there. Know who else is on that first line for the Kings? Kyle Calder. The LA Kings have Kyle Calder on the first line. They're hardly a team so deep in talent that it's easy to be a plus player.

Capitals' Semin not Impressed by Crosby

He's not a god. But he's already achieved more in three seasons than most players do in their career.

Detroit had 3 shots. Vancouver had 13. (just clarifying) Vancouver had a lot of great chances to tie the game in the third. It was a pretty wild finish.

offensive zone penalty. They're gonna call that goalie interference every time. Cleary knows better than that.

As for the last goal, that may have been an intentional pass of the boards. The Vancouver player put his stick in the air saying he was open, then the puck got fired wide and bounced right to him. Couldn't see it well enough to know for sure. But it is their home rink. And Lids does that a lot at Joe Louis.

I know people typically overreact to the refs, but really, where was the penalty there? Kronwall had good position, he didn't hook him. He didn't grab him with his free hand. What was the penalty?

Zetterberg is playing like a man possessed tonight. As much bitching as there is about the refs, I really can't believe that call on Kronwall. It's like the ref blew the whistle expecting there to be a penalty and didn't actually watch the play.

146 Penalty Minutes in Boston/Dallas Game

There's two important parts of the quote that were left out: The original poster made it sound like Modano was complaining about all the fights. He wasn't. He was calling out his team for getting their ass handed to them.

I see Avery's still a douchebag. Nice single leg takedown in his fight there. And then a hit from behind. Boy did he get jumped though. Wow.

Capitals' Semin not Impressed by Crosby

It seriously wasn't a knock on Lidstrom. His greatness is usually because of the things that don't happen. Kronwall's hits, and even some of the nice dekes he makes on the blueline, are more exciting to watch than most things Lids does on the ice. Hits, fights and goals are among the more exciting things in hockey. Lids doesn't really do any of those but score goals. His one timer is a thing of beauty. But half of those are tipped by Homer anyway.

Capitals' Semin not Impressed by Crosby

Ok. remove the birthday. How about just winning the Art Ross, Lester B. Pearson, Hart, and being a 1st all-star his second year in the league? If you think that's somehow not impressive and doesn't set him apart from most of the league, I think you're a little blinded by hate for him. Honestly he's boring as hell in interviews, and he was really irritating in the finals between him and his coach crying about interference. But he's still an incredibly talented player that hasn't come along in a long while. You do know that he won the Art Ross, Lester B. Pearson, and the Hart the year before? (The pearson of course being voted on by his fellow hockey players, not sportswriters) Crosby's not gonna get close to the Selke for a while. But I'm pretty confident he could change his game to win one. They love giving those out because of offense, he's just got to become a better two-way forward. And he already has most of the skills that help in that department.

Capitals' Semin not Impressed by Crosby

I'm thinking most GM's and coaches would rather have the boring 115 points. I get being totally sick of the Crosby hype, which he has little control over, but I don't get how he's a boring player to watch. He works hard every shift and goes nose first into corners and high traffic areas. Nick Lidstrom is boring to watch. He's honestly one of the most boring players to watch I could probably think of. But I sure as well wouldn't want him anywhere else than on the Detroit blueline.

Wow. That's gotta be a hockey name dropping record. Nah, hockey players aren't superstitious at all. That's why they all can't wait to touch the Cup any chance they get, even if they've never won it before. The Campbell trophy. Wales trophy. They'll put their hands on any of them anytime.
