Lebda's speed his awesome. His passing and offensive instincts aren't.
-
That was Hudler along the boards who lost the puck. One more reason he'll be in Babcock's doghouse.
-
Has there been a faceoff where the linesman didn't toss the Wings player out? Crap.
-
Wow did the Wings look out of sorts that whole shift.
-
Oooh! A riddle. I love riddles! Let's see... Well, that either means you're: a) trolling for a flame war which by the forum guidelines means you should be suspended or at the very least ignored or b) someone who actually bases their decision on Hossa after 5 games and generally should be ignored.
-
someone save this post for later in the season.
-
How many games into the season are we? Who had today in the betting pool?? Damn. I think I had at least 9 games into the season before someone suggested trading Hossa.
-
Agreed. A lot of those stats totals fluctuate wildly based on which arena they're played in. I mean, I have no doubt Dats is the best pickpocket in the league, but when he plays at Joe Louis he seems to have 5 takeaways before he plays a shift.
-
They must be using an extremely loose criteria for what constitutes a hit.
-
Didn't you retire?
-
This is some serious Lady Byng hockey here.
-
They're not clicking offensively yet, but when those two are on the ice forechecking, it's amazing how little time the Rangers have to move the puck.
-
deflected, I think.

Lebda's outlet passes have been pretty bad so far. He may be my new candidate for LGW whipping boy.
-
Good point. And he was coming back from a broken jaw. If he still had the chin guard on, that probably means it was still sore, which is going to affect his game and make it harder to play the physical kind of game Cleary does.
-
maybe if they stick 20 company logos on the sweater it would.
-
Good question. If they feel it doesn't affect their game and they don't fight a lot, I don't see how it's a problem, especially if it reduces the chances they'll be out of the lineup from taking a stick or puck to the face.

That's a great synopsis of why Shanny left. Ultimately after Stevie retired he just felt it was time to move on. And as someone mentioned earlier, Holland offered him the exact deal he got from the Rangers. In spite of Holland's attempt to keep him, I think it was better for the Red Wings that he moved on. It helped them start forging a new identity as a team.

I know. I was just responding to someone who said they would take Shanahan over Hudler any day of the week, so I thought the comparison was relevant. Hudler is much cheaper and puts up similar numbers in less ice time, that's all.
-
Shanny had 4 more points than Hudler last season (Yes, Hudler played more games, but shanny was getting more TOI per game and ultimately had more minutes for the season). He also cost $2.5 million to Hudler's $880,000. I'm a big fan of Shanny, but I definitely wouldn't trade him for Hudler in a heartbeat, and I'm not even that crazy about Hudler.

Actually, it wasn't (I read back through your posts). There's a difference between risk of injury and possible death. You seem to miss that distinction. By your reasoning we shouldn't mourn anyone because there is danger in just stepping out the door. No need for condolences; I knew the risk. Posting here is a dangerous game.
-
That would make things easier, but for some reason Matt won't give me that power. You couldn't manage to share condolences without some crap about "he knew the risks" which as I've said in virtually every response to your post, hockey is not a life or death risk 99.9% of the time. That's not a risk you really have to accept to play the game. But you don't seem interested in addressing that point.
-
I read the original post before I spoke, to try and determine if you would really be that big of a heartless ass in a thread where people are commenting on the death of a 19 year old. But alas it seems there's one in every thread. There's a difference between being all emo about something and just being respectful of a tragedy, instead of trying to perpetuate some fantasy where hockey players have some live by the sword die by the sword gangsta mentality.
-
I don't how I could make my point clearer. I guess you can't even understand a 10 year old. Hockey has risks. Yes. Of course. They are not usually life threatening. When you play hockey at an elite level, you don't expect to die. The death of a 19 year old during a routine hockey game is therefore a fluke and tragic. If you asked the members of the Red Wings if they would die for the Cup, I bet they'd all say no way in hell. Draper is willing to take a puck in the face to score a goal, but I bet he'd rather go home to his daughter than risk death night in and night out. But I get it. you're a tough guy. all hard and s***. one for my homies. Peace out.
-
Wow you're a dick. Could you highlight the part where I said there's zero risk in hockey? There's plenty of risk. It's just not life or death 99.9% of the time. So because of the two incidents in 20 years of hockey, he should've known better or something? You might also note that both of those guys are alive today.
