True. Which is creepy and stalkerish. I just know I'd be pissed if someone put a picture of my house on a fan website. It doesn't seem to be the rule these days, but local celebrity or not, there's just a line about approaching someone. Someone's home is over that line. Like I said in my first post, hopefully this was by neighbors he knows. If it was random fans, their heart's in the right place, but I think it doesn't respect Ozzy's privacy. EDIT: Especially when you read about how good he is to his fans, like in this thread.

I've been sort of holding off on saying this, and mods feel free to delete this post if it's out of place or not in the spirit of the thread. But while all us Wings fans are still on the high of this latest Cup win and throwing money around buying every shirt, hat, and jersey we can get our hands on, it'd be nice to throw a little spare change Matt's way for all his hard work. This is easily the best forum I've been on, and I know this stuff doesn't run itself for free. If a bunch of members here just chipped in 5 bucks, I'm sure it would go a long way in covering some of the considerable time and costs spent on this site. And think of all the other stupid things you've spent that money on that don't bring you nearly as much fun as this place. And how many hours you've spent reading, posting, arguing on this site. Anyway, as a non-mod, non-admin, with no affiliation to this site, I thought I'd make my little public radio pledge drive request. Thanks for listening, now back to our regular scheduled programming...

Hopefully it was his neighbors or someone he actually has a relationship with. Meant in good fun or not, if I were him I'd be a little weirded out that random fans were hanging out around my house in the night. And by the fact that a picture of my house just showed up on a Wings fan site. Yes Ozzy's a celebrity in Detroit, but he's just so good to his fans, I think his house should be a sacred space, no matter what the context. The banners are cool I guess, but man TPing is a total pain in the ass to clean up.

I never think of him as big, but then you see him street clothes and it's still kind of surprising. You don't look at him and think "best defensman in the NHL." Agreed, he's maybe 189 soaking wet in full hockey gear.
-
At first I thought you said "cute as hell." I wondered if the Stanley Cup was bringing out some new emotions for you. Yeah, Lids is skinny but ripped. Makes me think I could've made it to the NHL if I got in awesome shape, improved my skating by 1000%, and was the best defenseman on the planet.
-
It's always surprising to me how skinny Lids is.
-
Hudler is freaking awesome. the littlest rock star.
-
Cheli sounds a little drunk.
-
It's really impressive to me that Holmstrom has been in Michigan for 10+ years and his english has not improved one bit.
-
I couldn't see Sammy, his view was blocked by 3 other players. Typical Samuelsson.
-
Stanley Cup winner Andreas Lilja. Holy freaking crap.

People can dismiss the 98 one saying the team was already built. The 02 one because he "bought" that team of all stars. But now he's done it under the new CBA. I've definitely questioned some moves he's made, but the guy clearly is one of the best GM's in the league.
-
I keep waiting for him to start pointing to the crowd and slurring "I f*cking love you guys! I f*cking love you!!!"
-
It's a pretty good tactic actually. Wow Mr. I keeps getting weirder looking with age. And is he drunk? Or did he have a stroke???
-
I remember that! Was that in 02? or 98? Because I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have done it the first time... Normally people are so superstitious, and Yzerman just grabs the thing and hoists it up smiling and walks off.
-
Exactly. It was definitely time. I'm really enjoying Bertuzzi saying he wanted to stay in Detroit, then heading to Anaheim.
-
Unsung? I'd definitely have to go with Rafalski. He somehow quietly scored 55 points and was a +27 during the regular season, and had 14 points and was +6 in the postseason. But beyond stats, he just went about his job as the #2 D-man on the team and did a very good job of it. Yet most of the time I saw his name in a thread here, it was about how he screwed up. Draper would be a close second. He got some attention, but probably not enough for how great he is defensively. Plus he threw some hard hits that didn't get noticed like Kronwall or drakes did. And he was dominant in the faceoff circle, which is HUGELY important for any team, but especially a puck possession one like Detroit. Draper went 15 for 18, winning 83% of his faceoffs last night. That's insane.

97 - nothing can match finally winning that first one, seeing Stevie raise the Cup. It felt like that day would never come. 08 - the new generation under a new salary structure. The "soft" euros. Lids raising the Cup as captain. Hank with the Conn Smythe. This win is probably influenced by it being a day old. Maybe later I wouldn't rank it second. Not sure. 98 - the win for Vladdy. Osgood winning as starter. Repeating. 02 - the all-star lineup. Honestly this is last for me because they were so expected to win. Anything less than the Cup would've been disappointment, and thankfully they didn't disappoint.

QFMFT! I was also one of the ones saying there is no conspiracy here. The Wings do not regularly get screwed by the refs. But good lord, I sure looked wrong after some of the calls this series.
-
Very true. when that goal was scored, I thought for certain the other ref probably blew his whistle and stopped the play before it could be counted as a goal. Luckily Joanette was right where he should've been and watched it the whole way. I had no idea what happened, then I see him pointing at the net.
-
I think he's definitely got the resume, but a part of me still thinks it'll be a struggle for Ozzy to get into the hall, because even with this Stanley Cup performance he's still not quite getting the credit he deserves. Many announcers talk about Osgood's play, but in the same breath mention the stifling Detroit defense. For whatever reason Brodeur having to go long stretches without touching the puck then having to make a huge save shows what a great goalie he is. When Osgood does the same thing, it somehow apparenly makes his job easier. Hopefully Osgood will have a trophy or two more by the time he retires so there's no question.
-
Hopefully Chelios and Hasek will. Two great players, but it's time. I'm thinking Drake will as well. The style of hockey he's played in his career definitely ages a guy faster. Who knows though. The thought of repeating is very tempting to most players.
-
No kidding. I was laughing at people and their conspiracy theories, but I was about ready to wear a tin foil hat after last game. then that call on Hudler tonight. wow.
-
Yeah, that quote he was actually knocking Euro captains, saying Alfredsson was the only other one in the finals. I've always like Cherry, but more and more he's seemed like a douchebag who's getting left behind by the game.
-
yeah, I should probably apologize to Sammy. and secondary scoring in general. I had my doubts about them, but in my defense that was before Mule suddenly realized how talented he was. I had faith in Ozzy, but thought he probably wouldn't get a shot in the postseason. what a playoffs. Go Wings!
