Right before he scored his first goal, I literally said, "Oh, it's Sammy so nothing's gonna happen."

O'Hallaran - Default call is 'interference'?
haroldsnepsts replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
Agreed. If they had been calling it this way all season, Holmstrom would've had nearly every goal called back (as should other players around the league), and would've had 100 more penalty minutes. The Stanley Cup Finals is no time to be changing the standard. -
Can I sign that letter too??

I've always liked Crosby (I've defended him in multiple threads where people bash him for no reason), and I wouldn't say he was whiny, but I was even surprised about how often he kept mentioning how hopefully "they'd get the calls." Kind of like he was implying they didn't tonight.

Maybe it's interference because Fleury has his eyes closed? Though honestly I don't think you can tell much from a still pic. Holmstrom could've already hit Fleury's pad in that shot. It's one frozen moment. -

I've watched the clip a bunch of times, and Fleury doesn't look down where Homer taps him. I think it's a major stretch to imply he was looking down because Homer tapped him. He was watching the shooter when Homer tapped him, and continued to do so until the puck was fired. Watch the angle from behind the net, Fleury actually had a great view of the shot. Holmstrom was off to the side. -

You keep stating these things as if they are fact Eva. This is not an absolute. As I said before, the interference rule talks about any contact with the goaltender, other than incidental. There's clearly some room for judgement there. Holmstrom was clearly outside of the blue paint, so I can only assume the call was made because of the stick. The stick touching Fleury's leg pads could just has easily been called incidental contact, especially since Fleury was even outside of the blue paint. After the goal was scored (unlike Turco), he doesn't even protest about what Holmstrom did. I think if that had been anyone other than Homer, there's a good chance the goal would've been allowed. -
No kidding. He was a man possessed. When Sammy is the hero for game one, I'm feeling really good about the Wings chances here.

good god. how many times did Crosby mention them moving their feet and hopefully next time they'll "get the calls?!" I'm liking Crosby less by the minute. Show some composure and leadership captain.
-
You may make it sound like it's an absolute, but the rule also addressed incidental contact. the stick easily could've been considered incidental. Major grey area. If that's anyone but Holmstrom, that would almost certainly be allowed as a goal.

Babcock owning a reporter about the Homer goal being waved off.

no worries. I'm not really that superstitious. It's more tradition than anything else.
-
Pens had 4 sog in the 2nd, 3 sog in the third. wow.
-
I know. But it's bad mojo. Like you don't touch the Cup until you've won it. Or Lids not touching the Conference trophy. You don't talk about a shutout util the games over.
-
I think it's bad form to say that before the game is actually over.
-
No kidding. Why is it players can do whatever the hell they want to Homer and it's no call?
-
Seriously, can we get something about that using that word put in the forum guidelines???
-
I'd rather the fans give Fleury the ol bronx cheer.
-
I'm just glad someone got a point other than Sammy. Living in the bizarro world was starting to scare me.
-
C'mon Z. Get a shortie.
-
WEAK. All playoffs they've been letting you slow a guy up right after a player makes the dump. That was all acting.
-
I was getting a little bothered by how he kept saying the two teams were "probing" one another in the first period. But I've always thought he was pretty good.
-
You're not alone.
-
Same here. Of course, that's about what I would've looked like growing a beard at his age. Which is why I didnt' do it.
-
yah, if that's what my playoff beard looked like, I'd shave.
