absolutely. they were controlling play and pushing the Pens off the puck. After a dominant period like that, it's nerve racking to be up by only a goal. I prefer leads that can't be negated by fluke bounces or bad calls.

The bottom line is none of us really knows what exactly is going on with Franzen's injury, so for me it's not really about deciding whether or not he's a china doll. As I said in my previous post, I'm pretty sure he's not even the one able to decide whether or not he can play. He has to be medically cleared.

are you being serious? Headaches was one of the symptoms of whatever is going on with Franzen. That's not the underlying problem or he would be playing, like he did against colorado and game one against Dallas. They eventually figured out it was a larger problem than just a headache.

Another vote for way off base. As others have said, we're talking about an injury involving his brain. It's one thing to take a bunch of stitches or play with a broken hand, it's quite another to gut it out when you're dealing with your nogging. Just ask Eric Lindros. Furthermore, based on Babcock's comments, my impression is that it's not even up to Franzen, he has to be cleared to play by the doctors.

If he didn't deserve the ice time and was a potential detriment to the team, absolutely. Chelios was an important part of the Wings this season, and even for a decent chunk of the playoffs. It's not like his absence in Game 1, and potentially the finals, negates that. -

Loyalty doesn't win Cups. Babcock has said all along, you gotta earn your ice time, no matter what the name on the back of the jersey is. It was even that way with Yzerman his last year, and rightly so. You don't earn a spot in the lineup because of what you've done in your career. Well, maybe some teams decide ice time that way, but I bet they're in or near last place. -

Agreed on all points. Cheli looked his age out there against Dallas. As others have said, Lilja was great last year in the playoffs too, minus one huge mistake. When he keeps it simple he's pretty effective. There's always just that potential for the "Lillypads! No!!!!" play.
